Quick point of note. If you read the PSO award notice, you will see why bmi regional are operating only twice daily, not three.
Both bmi and another bidder, by capacity would suspect flyBe, bid over the maximum subvention limit, thus a compromise was agreed with the lower bidder, bmi, in that if rotation dropped from three to two, they would fall within the subvention limit and therefore be granted the PSO.
I suspect bmi will not be in any hurry to therefore add a "3rd" rotation unless either additional funding was offered or they really felt a compelling need to add, such as towards the renewal period to put off other bidders with 50-seat units, or commercially the rotation would more than cover itself.
The caution would arise on the basis that if the PSO funding paying for the unit and crews was then seen to subsidise an extra commercial rotation, or indeed artificially support an alternate route, which is where such funding mechanisms prohibit growth rather than encourage under EU state funding regulations.

Yeah, CoDA are at the conference. They've been active on social media regarding their attendance. As to whether anything comes from it, well they have money to use to attract airlines, so let's hope so.

Have just been examining the list of attendees at Routes Europe 2017 which took place in Belfast over last few days.
Had a look at attendee list and it seems that City of Derry Airport was not an official attendee as an airport.
Every airport on the Island or Ireland and most in wider UK are listed as attending with their logos.
It appears that the 'parent company' Regional City Airports attended but surely the airport could have been presented at it better.

I'm aware that airport staff where there. My point was that the airport was not there as a single entity itself which is unusual as the event was held on this island.
The City of Derry staff where there as employees/reps of Regional and City Airports who happen to work for City of Derry Airport.
Stansted and Manchester are also part of a larger group but the airports where there alone as airports, not as part the parent group.

First flight appears to be full, with a few seats left on the evening rotation. Positive signs at this early stage. Hopefully it will encourage bmi regional to try a few other destinations too.
