And all the testimony of businesses hoping not to lose the London route, that's all for the Craic is it?

All this on the Derry thread, who'd have thought

They won't lose business though when they can avail of multiple flights to London only 50 minutes away though.

Hi Folks new to the forum. Article this morning https://www.donegalnow.com/news/tran...-flight/145778 about Shane Ross the Irish transport minister meeting with the airport to discuss the Derry - Dublin route that never emerged. I think I remember recently reading an article where he stated there would be no funding from the Irish government for the route. A possible U Turn? Was citywing the right carrier in the first place? Surely such route would be better serviced by by something similar to the donegal - dublin route in the ATR 42 with Stobart ?

DerryCity_9_10. You're commenting about a PSO Tender that you haven't yet read? Try reading it, educate yourself on the matter, then comment. Unlike your posts, there was no primary school involved in the assessment of the economic value of the airport. Actually. What am I saying. A primary school child would at least show signs of literacy.

Also, genius, to travel 56.6 miles in 47 minutes you'd have spent a lot of that journey speeding. No doubt that's something you're proud of.

Anyway. Roll on Tues/Weds to find out who the operator is.

Nothing new from my source, other than they confirmed an announcement for next week.
Maybe Chidken Sangwich would be kind enough to enlighten us further with their insider knowledge?

Cutters, for once then stop posting your stupid idiotic comebacks which make you look thick as **** and name the people responsible for the so called independent review.

Great supporter of regional airports, think Derry Airport needs some support, it should not rely on local council support, think support should come from Government.
However, also think that airlines who want to or can use this airport are looking for public funding, to enhance their profits and have no interest in this airport.
RYR would be back in a flash with further subsidy from local or regional funding.

vinny - so you're saying that LDY is the metaphorical baby seal being played with by the local killer whales ?

DerryCity10_9. Have you read the tender? No? Maybe get your mate in the Fountain to send you one. Or do an internet search. Whilst you're at it, google "your, you're, of and off", oh and also "how to use punctuation".

Once you've done all that, come back to me.

Vinnym. I agree. I feel uncomfortable about subsidies in general, even for my local airport. LDY-LON has proven itself as an economically viable route, it just had the wrong operator. Still, with the underinvestment in infrastructure that there has been in the NW, I won't complain if the Gov want to spend what is in the grand scheme of things, a small amount of money. I think the RHI carry on puts everything into perspective.

It's like Dragons Den on BBC2 when they ask how much an item costs or who the other shareholders are....'Oh sorry I am unable to say that on TV'

Either there is an airline which has signed a PSO contract (in which case they can be named) or no contract has been signed yet with an airline

They do not have to publish the operator as there is a 'cooling off period' where I believe unsuccessful bidders are given the opportunity to re-state their case.
