Another editorial today in the Derry Journal business column asking what is happening with the airport but no formal word yet.

The situation seems to be quite similar to the city wing scenario where the announcement kept being pushed back, and in the end up they pulled out.

The way CoDA are handling the messaging is the same (i.e. ineptly), however that's where the similarities end. Citywing weren't going to be paid a substantial amount of money by a government to run the route.

Fair enough. What do you think the chances are when the announcement is made that other routes are also announced i.e Manchester if flybe are the PSO operator?

I'm surprised by that. I've used them BRS-ABZ and they sure weren't cheap. I also think this means no new additional routes.

what a complete waste of taxpayers money, on top of what it is costing to keep an airport open for about 2/3 flights a day. When will common sense prevail?

It already is busy DerryCity_9-10. A very successful enterprise. Perhaps you could set up a taxi service ferrying passengers from the Fountain to Aldergrove in 47 minutes?

Cutters, still waiting for you to name the person's responsible for the independent enquiry. In the meantime, because I won't hold my breath, further wasted millions and BMI using the cash cow to its advantage. It ain't gonna save CODA especially when FR choose to leave. Make sure the last one out the door turns the landing lights off. BtW you admitted Airporter is a very busy service ha. Gonna need new busses, bigger.

Can I just say that as a person from the northwest of Ireland, I am touched by the concern and I interest shown by someone who lives in the northwest of England in the affairs of my local airport. I'm even touched by your user name, DerryCity9_10. You should've kept your previous username. Or was that one banned?

The Airporter has been successful since it started. You insinuated that it would now be busier. Where are these extra passengers coming from?

True Blue. In a country where £450m is wasted on an RHI scheme, and £7.5m was to be spent on a New York flight, its about time the norrhwest got a share of the pie. Even if it's crumbs.

Cutters, the New York service was to be funded by 6 million over the period by the executive. Since 2010 CODA has had over 14 million in state/taxpayers aid and now another nearly 4 million too. Btw my handle on here refers to the classic Douglas aircraft and not DLA city were you expect everything for free. I've never been banned on this forum but you are sailing very close to the wind as you comments are becoming more and more sectarian. Thought you lived in Oxford, surrounded by intelligence. It certantly has not rubbed off on you. Also, before pulling posters up on punctuation or lack of, I suggest you check your own grammar and spelling Norrwest.

Sectarian? Do elucidate. I'll tell my wife, who's from the "other" side that. She'll be surprised.

As an aside. I've never lived in Oxford in my life, despite it being a lovely city. Now. If you've anything else to say to me (and have worked out how to), feel free to PM me.

Seat capacity

Assuming they operate the 145's with a capacity of 49 seats per aircraft that is a serious reduction on seats from LON. Can't have been many takers unless BMI Regional plan for growth to other regional airports.

You have to seriously question the viability of CODA - as many have been doing. A sad time for Derry/Donegal and the North West in general. The only beneficiaries will be BFS/BHD operators and the locally owned Airporter service. The sooner the A6 gets sorted the better!

Fourth time Cutters, name and shame the independent enquiry. Backtracking again. Who did the enquiry because that's a lot of millions invested from a subsidy of over 14 million of taxpayers money from 2010. So where do you live. Is it the northwest of Ireland or the northwest of Northern Ireland. Make your mind up. Bet your fuming on your tractor.

Why no new routes? I'm sure BM won't want the aircraft sat around during the day if Derry are keen on additional routes?

Probably best sat on the ground losing less money than flying to
non PSO funded routes losing even more. BMI regional have certainly sucked the devils cock with this fiasco. Millions poured down the drain that would have been best spent on social care for the elderly and vulnerable people in the community.
