I've just been successful for Melbourne base starting 24th November! No idea what aircraft/s, or if training will be here in Melbourne or interstate. I cannot believe it's finally happened, almost a year to the day since I applied. I don't think it's quite hit yet. But I think it's about to. I'm just about to go and hand my resignation in with 6 days notice, for my new job where I've been for only 3 weeks :o! But that's life for you!

When I was moved to 'hired' in the system, 2 emails were automatically generated that my 'application had been withdrawn'. I've been reassured this is an IT error. I'm certainly not going to withdraw it after all of this!

For all of those still on hold, or going through the processes, hang in there, I know it's hard. I used to fly for another airline, and if you haven't flown before, you will find it is such an amazing career. It's a fantastic industry, and once you get used to it, you'll never want to leave!
Congratulations, so glad to hear that it has been worth the wait! The next few months will be quite a whirlwind!
May I ask, you mentioned about the 'system', what do you mean by this? How can we access the application status?

Hi Mn64!

Thank you It was the Taleo recruitment system that they use. The one you put your application into initially I'm not too sure if it allows you to see your status however.

If this is during the EP component of your training be prepared for them to let you go and schedule you into another school. Sick and Personal leave during training especially EP's is a deal breaker not because the business are not supportive its just that you will be 1 day behind the rest of your class and the way the training is scheduled there is no opportunity to catch up. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news,

Hi everyone
I finished groundschool about 3 weeks ago thought I'd give a few things
Pretty much every ground school out at the moment (all I've seen for all bases) is mainline 747,330
Training wage is 1300 after tax a fortnight
The overnight allowances are good
It's 1 week of customer service
4 weeks of EPs and another week of service
Rosters are 2 monthly with 18 days off in that roster period pretty much a min of 2 days off gantuteed after each trip

Hope that helps a little
Good luck to all who got golden calls x

Thank you for letting me know!
I have actually contacted Qantas and made some arrangements to my issues! We do have days off during training and I will be using those days off instead of taking a leave! But thanks anyway

Also, does a day where you land at home count as a day off? Just say you arrive at 7am, is that still a full work day + 2 days off, or would it be that day +1 more, then back to work?

From what they told me... there are roughly 8 days off out of 30 days
But probably around 1-2 per week if it splits out evenly

Golden Call

I got my start date this morning. Still in a state of shock but very excited. They were hoping I might be released in time to do 30th November (would have been a mad scramble to move back to Sydney in that time, but I would have worked magic), instead I have now been offered January start date. Relief and excitement is in abundance right now.

Hold tight everyone, your patience is worth it.

I'm not sure where training will be yet. They said contract will be sent out soon which will hopefully give a bit more detail. I'm happy with wherever it is. I now have time to start flying my stuff back to Sydney and will be all prepared, cannot wait to start
