Windshearescape

I don’t work for Jet2.com...look closer to home.

Even so, a lot of the other airlines could be considered ‘proper’ compared to this lot.

The wonder of the 5/4 roster is wearing thinner than managements claim that pilot salaries average between 125-150K per annum

Not very useful when you've planned your next six months and suddenly your working every day you expected to be off.

I'd understand your point of view if anything like that had ever happened to me. I've rarely heard of pattern changes except on command upgrades or base changes.

As I say, the stable roster pattern is extremely helpful for those with families and childcare needs. It need not be 5/4, it could be 5/3 or anything else, but provided it's predictable, it makes planning possible.

Jet2.com isn't "a proper airline".
Really? In what way?

Doppio 5th January 2018 12:03

Hello, just out of curiosity; what would be the best Ryanair base regarding pay and living conditions?

Doppio 5th January 2018 16:06

Catania it is then!

RAT 5 5th January 2018 16:32

Me thinks Doppio might have a closer affinity to Catania/Italy than Vastreas/Sweden.

ryanair DEC pension

Hi Lazydog, can you confirm what you said about the pension is correct,
as i took it that RYR will match up to £8000 what a captain elects to pay in, it sounds like your saying RYR will give £8000 and also match up to an additional £8000 that would be interesting thanks

VJW 7th January 2018 07:02

Ryanaid don’t ‘give’ you £8000 for the pension AND up to a further £8000 more matching your contribution of £8000. That’d be £24,000 a year into the pension.

They simply match whatever you put in up to £8000. If you put in £5000 they’ll do the same I believe. If you put in £10k they’ll put in £8k.

For what it’s worth too, and unless I’m mistake this £8000 is actually still £6000 for us in the company already and based in Stansted, as we said no to the deal. DEC’s will get the deal we said no too. Funny isn’t it.

MaverickPrime 7th January 2018 11:30

VJW, what happens to FO’s already in the company upgrading to CPT? Do they get the new deal?

What happens to cadets joining the company now, will they get the new deal when they get a permanent contract?

RAT 5 7th January 2018 11:49

Under EU labour law it is necessary to treat equal contracts as equal: i.e. two employees doing the same job on the same contract where one can not be treated 'less favourably' than the other. I once had such a claim against a company where a fellow captain had extra benefits allocated. His contract was a copy/paste of mine, but he had some dubious verbal agreements that gave significant unjustifiable advantages. It was not only against me, but all similar colleagues who were not aware of the set up. I complained & won in that the unjustifiable extras were removed. It was a shame as we were punting for being elevated to the same deal. As it was a dodgy deal in the first place there was only one realistic outcome.
I would question whether it would be permissible to issue differing contracts for line pilots at the same base, doing the same job, but being rewarded differently. Much would depend on who would be prepared to stand up or lie down.

feeso 12th January 2018 21:26

Can anyone tell me if Ryan provide Headsets in the cockpit or pilots have to catty their own?
many thanks in advance.

Newgen Jock 13th January 2018 09:42

Get yourself aq good noise-cancelling headset; it'll make your day SO much easier! (noise = stress!)

skyflyer737 16th January 2018 15:35

Yes, if you ask for a direct employment contract you’ll almost certainly get one as a DEFO.

skyloone 16th January 2018 18:37

I’d strongly advise against even considering the dodgy contractor option.... it’s a real Can of worms. If no direct contract offered I’d walk away.

Lazydogg 17th January 2018 00:43

All direct entry FOs and Captains are offered permanent contracts.

Podcast 17th January 2018 09:29

does ryanair pay for TR ? the market is on our side, so I will apply only if they pay for the TR.

Jaair 17th January 2018 12:26

No, they don't pay for TR.

Lazydogg 17th January 2018 15:47

Non rated Captains are bonded for three years. Only rated FOs with time on type or cadets recruited for the RHS. Rated FOs offered permanent contracts on joining. Cadets can apply at 1800 hours in the company If I’m not mistaken.

UK permanent FOs average around £3500 net. Busier summer months a bit more obviously.

Deskjocky 18th January 2018 09:29

Could anyone shed some light on Ryanair accepting ICAO ATPL for type rated DEFO. How much time is given on the validation before having to convert etc?

Many thanks!

jonesyinthesky 18th January 2018 12:19

12 months to validate but they have a long list of direct entry FOs and doubt they will look at DEFO, they would look at ICAO captains and its a straightforward process, they have just hired a lot of Brazillians through this channel.

depends what you are talking about, type rating for cadets is circa €30k, no type rating for direct entry Captains and non type rated captains is a 3 year reducing bond of €15k, so you pay €5k each year.

direct entry fo contracts being offered all over the place, carpe diem and all that

Fire and brimstone 20th January 2018 05:30

Just how desperate are they for DEC's?

Assuming rated Captains are not falling over themselves to join, what are they taking in terms of hours / experience?

- 5/4 roster we know

- UK salary?

- flight remuneration? Per sector? Per day worked?

Is anyone prepared to say.

Boeing 7E7 20th January 2018 09:08

Listen. Don’t worry about the pay, or that there is no LOL protection, exceptionaly poor company pension scheme, no food, no water, pay for your own car parking, uniform and the like. It’s all about a 5/4 roster. It’s bloody brilliant.

GScapture 20th January 2018 11:17

I heard a rumor that you can guarantee your mortgage nowadays by saying that you have a 5/4 roster.

Have I touched a nerve?

Boeing 7E7 20th January 2018 17:44

Not at all! Just wish I had a 5/4 roster. And that warm feeling it brings.

many better airlines hire. Why joining FR ? the market is excellent if you know another language such as german, spanish.

u0062 21st January 2018 21:05

Unfortunately with RYR you probably won’t be there long!

SeaBreeze1 22nd January 2018 06:51

Very happy to hear you got “your” UK base. I spent 6 years in total based at STN as an FO. When I got offered a command I was told “no UK bases for new commands - we’re saving those for the DEC’s.” Loyalty pays apparently but certainly not in RYR. I, like many other command-ready FO’s left as a result and never looked back. Their short-sightedness is incredible - if they weren’t so hell bent on stitching up their current employees and gave them the bases they wanted then they wouldn’t even need to recruit DEC’s!

Yeah, eurowings and it's excellent T&C are wairting for you.

Greenlights 22nd January 2018 10:13

Vueling is a lot better, and you fly A320, you get more opportunities with this rating especially in Europe/ ASia. ;)

ROKVIATOR 22nd January 2018 13:48

Does the 2000 a month sounds good to you mate?

Greenlights 22nd January 2018 15:31

that's a start and all the rest is provided as you seem to skip...(insurance, uniform, water, medical, OPC......)
take the hours and move on, as I said, it's easier. anyway, off topic.

Julle123 9th February 2018 08:56

Anybody who has new info about sim test and tech interview for Ryanair screening in STN.

regards

stoneangel 15th February 2018 17:39

Hello guys,

Just need an information, about the terms and conditions at FR, If i follow, here 3 questions :

TR is about 30000 euros ?

Basically to make it simple : how much money saved should we have after the TR until we get the first salary ?

What about the new terms and conditions today after all what had happened, any improvements, TY paid, bond ?....

Thank you very much

aerodestination 15th February 2018 17:47

TR is 29500 EUR

line training is paid now as well as far as I know.

Typerating waiting time is around 2 months. Typerating 2 months... so expect the first salary after around 5 months at the earliest. A lot of expenses as well (living, travel, food)

I have seen some figures for new FO salaries which is a lot better then the previous contracts. Over 80 EUR per block hour after 500 hours as a FO. anyone who can confirm this? And also confirm pay during line training?

stoneangel 16th February 2018 10:53

Thank you aerodestination,
so basically we need about 7000 euro for living, before the first income ?

aerodestination 16th February 2018 13:45

I would say around 37.000 to 40.000 including typerating depending on your personal living style and depending on the commute.

but then again, this is only based on what I have heard from friends. No personal experience.
