...and yet I offered my services (9000+, 5000+ command and plenty of jet), and I haven't heard a whisper! Weird, huh?

Megaton 10th October 2006 06:48

Somebody was asking if the level of resignations from FlyBE were being exaggerated. Well, from my course less than 2 years ago only one captain and 2 F/Os remain out of 10. That, in anybody's terms, is pretty poor retention figures.

flyingbug 10th October 2006 18:46

Alpha Charlie,

the ballot results were in earlier than I anticipated.
Rumour has it that there was an 80% vote, with a 2-1 "no" majority to the Flybe/CC proposals.
Next step is for Balpa to meet with Jim French.

kd2473 10th October 2006 18:59

Remoake, same here - 7,000TT, 3,000PIC, lots of jet - emailed to ask for details since couldn't make open day and again, not a word! Not the most professional of outfits on that alone!

bleeds off 10th October 2006 21:34

2500 TT, most turboprop, frozen ATPL. Same as kd2473: emailed for details and got package details 5 days later, along with an invitation to apply via an attached form. The package confirms £26191 etc...

Torycanyon 10th October 2006 23:34

You wont get a DEC unless you have the absolute bare minimum experience and hours!:E

remoak 11th October 2006 02:49

Hmmm I thought they needed skippers? Very odd. Well, maybe we all annoyed them at some point in the past, I can't believe they wouldn't at least respond to DEC candidates if they are so desperate. Mind you, it's al;ways been a bit like this with flybe...

Homer_J 12th October 2006 09:51

I read the advert the other day on there website, 2500hrs, current command or a recomendation for command. Are they the minimum hours or are they saying that and are really after more experienced folk. At presant I've got 2300hrs(2500 by the time I would have worked my resignation period), about a thousand on a turboporp and a recomendation for command(but low down the seniority list at my place).
Do you think its worth me wandering along to edi later this month?

Smokie 12th October 2006 12:40

Homer_J,

I would say you were right up their street with that level of experience.
Ask the majority of the newly promoted Dash F/O's, as that is exactly the same level of experience that they have.

Some have had upgrades with less.

Fred Elliot 12th October 2006 16:14

Oh, dear. Apparently I've been rude. Well so would you if you were about to drop dead, I say drop dead!!

Right - the truth. Pay etc. ballot rejected overwhelmingly. 63% of a 79% 'turnout' of members against. I make that about half the workforce. Cabin staff joining the T&G at a rate of knots - Union recognition can't be far off. 26 (I think) pilots presently working their notice with more in the pipeline (the '3 calendar months' thing encourages people to resign on the last day of the month).

Time for JF and team to wake up and smell the coffee.

OK - imagine a gamine, youthful Tony Blair and altogether sing ....thi-i-i-n-g-s can only get better....

:O

Hi there

Any news about it ? What are your feelings about possible improvements of the new joiners T's and C's ?

Thursday 19th

Class a

If you're going, I suggest you go on Thursday 19th, would be embarrassing to turn up 1 day too late.

Good luck

class a 17th October 2006 10:50

good idea

Yes that would be a good idea had it in my head that friday was the 19th ah well its been a long week

Anyway did anyone go to the Birmingham one and if so how was it ??

Homer_J 17th October 2006 14:19

I just got an email from flybe today with the requirements and so on. One of there stipulations is that the experience must be on an ac with a mtow of 15Ts. All my experience is on a turboprop of 13Ts. I was going to email back and ask if this rules me out, but I was also going to go along on thursday to edi(I'm in gla). I'm guessing If I emailed them, I wouldn't get an answer back before thursday, yet I don't want to go to edi if I'm waisting my time(and money on petrol).
Would anyone in the know think this might be a problem. Or do you think there a bit flexible on there requirements?
Also, from the people who when to birmingham, what were they saying or offering. Was it a 30min lecture on how great flybe is, or was it an informal interview to those interested or......

Anyway. thanks.

ps, has anyone else noticed the fashion of refering to yourself over the radio as "the" ryanair, easy, british 123abc ended?

Until the results of the meeting are known, anything else posted here would just be speculation.

Thanks for that FB.
It's quite difficult to get their logic on this issue with regards to the alleged amount of resignations. They might reckon with the fact that the relatively unexperienced starters would be satisfied with the proposed T's and C's.
But considering the possible prospect of a significant amount of their FO's to be vaccumed elsewhere, that would leave them with unexperienced guys / girls on the right hand seat. If u combine that with freshly rated Captains on the Q400, how about safety then...
For having myself (like all of us) been unexperienced, Iwas rather reassured to have Commanders who were really technically mastering the A/C besides me.

Do Flybe actually hand out the Monarch/First Choice application forms on day one ?:)

flybe Edinburgh Open Day

Can anyone who goes along to the open day in Edinburgh please post here what was said? It will help those of us who cannot make it. I hope someone asks if and when the T/P salary are going to move closer to the Jet salary...;) They might get the peeps they require that way....

Homer_J, I guess it depends on the type. I know they took quite a few guys with Do328 Command time in as DEC, that aircraft is a shade under 14T MTOM. I would think it worth your while to pootle along, and post here what was said, theres a good chap. :ok:

Homer_J 18th October 2006 19:37

Thought I might go along, if only for the free coffee and cake. I shall write again after I've been tomorrow.

While you're there would you mind to ask when they think to solve the "tech problem" that prevents the online application form to be re-opened? :E Nice to know, EDI is slightly out of reach for me.

Thanks and...lemon cheese cake and OJ for me...! :ok:

PZ :ok:

Homer_J 19th October 2006 19:06

There was no cake. But there was shortbread, so that was ok.

The two gentlemen there were very helpful and friendly. I asked all the usual questions. they answered them all, told me about the q400, why they have it, why there getting the jets. It all seemed quite straight forward.

They gave me an application form to fill in, which is fine except that It has a few essay questions. I hate those sort of questions. Maybe I could type them into an internet site and have someone else answer them, as school kids seem to do these days.

Anyway. Foods ready. Off to eat stuff.

Maybe qs such..."tell us about an occasion when you used good decision making skills.." and so on? I got those printed from the web before they closed the AF page months ago. I can give you my answers, just bring the cake over....:E and tell us about the next web-driven recruitment, if any.

Take care

Meeb 23rd October 2006 06:20

I do not believe forms are used for DEC's, or at least others I know who have joined did not fill out any such form.

Did anyone go along to the Edinburgh meeting who is a current Captain? I would be interested to know if anything was said about recruitment projections for DEC's, and T&C's for same.

FLYBe E195, rosters and impressions

How do you guys like it, how about the rosters, and overall impression of the plane? Do you like it better than the BAe146? Any new routes with those planes? Any Dash 8-400 pilots moved over to the E195?

Cheers Mates!

FLYBE Redundancy Policy

Any chance someone can PM me the finer details of this policy..... cheers

Rainboe 20th November 2006 14:43

Is there something you'd like to tell us? What's happening in Flybeland? Had an interview scheduled with them in May but was already offered another job first.

Dash-7 lover 20th November 2006 14:56

Don't know if you're aware but just in case it was missed!! - Flybe takes over BACON as of 31st December when FLYBE's policies ''may'' come into play.....

Question for the Flybe guys

Could anyone tell me what type of staff travel is offered by Flybe. Particularly, are there any concession's offered in retirement?:ok:

FLYBE Redundancy Policy

What area of BA Connect does everyone feel is the most threatened? My personal feeling is that the places we both have a base might downsize slightly, and maybe the engineering side. Is the engineering all done from the isle of man? We used to have a base in IofM but it was shut.

ImAflyGirl 26th November 2006 12:18

Flybe Redundancy

I don't think anything has been decided yet and I would imagine that they would treat this as a unique situation. Industry standard is 1 week per year of service. Are you eager to be redundant?

GroundBunnie 26th November 2006 13:32

IAFG

I share the Dash7 lovers concern. More than a feeling, CS at BACON is definitely going, affecting all the BACON bases to some extent, and especially BRS, where we are all going to be made redundant (or in current BASpeak - outplaced). See my posts on the 'Flybe/BA Connect' thread. The reason for getting details of the Flybe redundancy policy is that there is a possibility that we'll all be TUPE'd to Flybe, and then made redundant on Flybe conditions, which may not be as favourable as BA.

Rgds GroundBunnie

Dash-7 lover 26th November 2006 21:38

Imaflygirl..

Of course im not eager to be redundant - duh!. Still loads of unanswered questions so just doing a bit of detective work. Myself and approx 350 non-flying people dotted around the country are just waiting to see if we're gonna get totally shafted, or if it's worth hanging on...? Regardless of the outcome and to ensure a smooth 'transition period' it's going to be in BRT/BEE interest to hold on to what they can otherwise you'll be lucky to have anyone left at the end of January, let alone the end of March! CV's and job offers are flying about like confetti.

Direct Entry Embraer at Flybe.

Does anyone know if Flybe are taking, or would consider taking guys straight onto the embraer from outside the company?
I'm not talking about the BAconnect guys, rather others in the industry
who have done their time on a turbo prop and are looking at options for their first jet job.
JC

remoak 15th January 2007 12:15

Not a chance!

Why would they consider giving 'others in the industry' their first jet job? There are many BACON guys, who have also 'done their time on a turbo prop' who would expect to get their reasonable shot. Get real or as remoak said -"not a chance" :=

unwiseowl 15th January 2007 23:28

Didn't they take direct entries on the 146? Why would the Big Barbie Jet be any different?
