What is the average age and experience in the left hand seat in eJ? I would hazard a guess, 25-35 with 3,000-5,000 hours?
Allow me to correct. On the most recent command course no one had less than 5,000TT. Whereas there are young skippers, even a few who managed to achieve command while still in their 20s the average age is well North of 35. It is probably over 40. Don't overlook the fact that there are many who joined from other airlines as DEC in the rapid expansion days. They came from BA (retirees at 55) Cathay, Emirates, Qatar and many other well-known operators. EZY also took over Go and GB and in so doing acquired a considerable number of experienced captains.

Another thing to bear in mind is the wording of the advertisement for this recruitment. It asked for future captains. EZY is not aiming simply to fill FO vacancies in 2014. It wants people who will (reasonably quickly) be able to transition to command. It is to help fill an experience gap which has appeared and it is partly in response to continuous pressure from training captains to recruit more widely again. There are already a considerable number of FOs who joined from other A320 operators over the last couple of years or so; this recruitment is to ensure that EZY has a pool of SFOs from a wide variety backgrounds to replace the considerable number of captains who are in the autumn of their careers (I am one).

f27m50 17th May 2013 09:05

are they still sending out today?

Swept 17th May 2013 09:13

Good post Wingswinger. As usual for Pprune there are some great theories out there but Ezy clearly have a metric, dreamed up by some boffin, which they are basing their cut off on. I am still awaiting a PFO but secretly hoping for something more positive.

As for those denigrating Ezy, all the Ezy drivers I have spoken to enjoy the job and the company. They work hard with some long days and some short days. The training is solid, the company fair and (provided they are on a perm contract) the money is good. Yes their recruitment tactics over the last 5 years have been questioned by most but now they have realised their SFOs recruited during that period have not got the skillset for Command and now they are doing something about it. Let us hope that this is the start of a wider recruitment drive for non-TR pilots.

eaglesnest1972 17th May 2013 10:23

and what about the rated unemployed mate?
:ugh:

Panther1984 17th May 2013 12:43

Anyone got a pfo today?

canadairjet900 17th May 2013 13:42

I´m wondering the same...
Still waiting for a response!
Good luck!!

flyer19832007 17th May 2013 14:22

nothing here yet either, a lot of friends with varying levels of experience not successful. But they all pretty much found out on day 1.

Be interesting to hear when people are given the green light.

Good luck to those still in the running.

Lenticularlover 17th May 2013 14:41

Spoke to a friend at Easy last night. Unfortunately there is a backlog of PFOs as there was so many applicants:rolleyes:

Superpilot 17th May 2013 15:16

Any of those type rated flyer? So far, heard of one type rated guy getting a PFO.

flyer19832007 17th May 2013 15:28

Any of those type rated flyer?
Nope, all non-rated TP/Light Jet operators.

flyer19832007 17th May 2013 16:00

Lenticular, are they working in chronological order do you know?

I completed the tests not long before the deadline!

pitotheat 17th May 2013 16:01

Swept.
I am sure your last paragraph was not intended to slur all the high quality SFOs at easyJet who have accumulated 1,000s of hours at the company and are working their way up the Command process.
The change in the origin of our new recruits from a predominantly low hours cadet intake to more of a mixture is not because we will run out of suitable command candidates in the next few years. Based on our planned expansion rate over the next few years we will continue to have highly capable, experienced and known candidates in our Command holding pool for several years before they are given a start date for their upgrade course. Anyone joining now will have 5+ years before a change of seat regardless of experience and ability. I personally believe it will be the start of the next decade before anyone recruited now will swap seats. The change of recruitment policy is driven by other factors but have nothing to do with running out of quality SFOs.

flyboy146 17th May 2013 16:05

To those who did this at home "with the help of friends" I truly hope you get found out if you get called for interview. Really quite pathetic.

Swept 17th May 2013 16:35

Pitoth

It would clearly be a sweeping generalisation to state that all individuals at Ezy of a certain rank/cadre/experience level are not "up to scratch" and I am not doing this. I am merely stating that if you recruit from the full marketplace then you will get a balanced intake displaying the varied skillset required to be a successful FO/Capt. If you rely on a group that have to pay their way then you are not going to get that variety.

We all bring different things to the party and the Company will be richer for this variety.

eaglesnest1972 17th May 2013 16:57

I am rated and PFO.
I agree with the friend above, not fair and really not smart to take the tests with qualified help.

pitotheat 17th May 2013 16:59

Swept
The one part of your post I am referring to is this:

"Yes their recruitment tactics over the last 5 years have been questioned by most but now they have realised their SFOs recruited during that period have not got the skillset for Command and now they are doing something about it."

If you did not mean this then perhaps you want to edit it. If you did mean this then perhaps you need to address how you might fit in to easyJet company culture and part of a multi crew environment.

Lenticularlover 17th May 2013 19:02

No idea but from the PFOs I've heard about I don't think so.

G-IZMO 17th May 2013 19:36

How much of a PFO backlog / lead time to be sent a disappointing e-mail? Are they working weekends on the processing of results?

WX Man 17th May 2013 19:49

I think some of you are reading too much into it.

I suspect that they've set a pass mark for the online tests that will give them 3-400 people whose CVs will be looked at. Of those, maybe 200 will be interviewed. Everyone below said pass mark will get a PFO.

I don't really buy into any conspiracy: not considering the diversity of experience seen on this tiny little sample of the aviation community who have already received PFOs.

I could, however, be proven wrong if everyone invited for interview has between 1500 and 2000h and possibly very limited command time: in which case, the more plausible theories will have been proven correct.

GTTIB 18th May 2013 09:45

No PFO yet, but did notice on the Taleo job site that my application status as "Application under review" was updated on the 15th.

2700TT Q4TP Non-TR

nicob 18th May 2013 10:00

Still under review......

FlyingSerb 18th May 2013 10:12

Do you guys think that the PFO's will be by alphabetical order?

f27m50 18th May 2013 13:50

for the ones who are still "under review",dont you think its quite plausible that, since the status changed on the day that all the rest received his/her pfo,you probably got a ticket for a 3-day trip to luton assessment center? ;)

nicob 18th May 2013 15:34

To my mind i think that an electronic "barrier" has made all the PFO's we observe since the last 3 days,....and now Appforms are really looked to make another PFO "wave" in the next days....

airbuske 18th May 2013 15:41

according to the taleo.easynet website they have looked at my application the last time on the 24th apr. So before I did the tests. Guessing that they need a lot of time...

nicob 18th May 2013 15:46

I noticed also that every time you go on the taleo site and click on "view ur app" then, there is an update with the date of this click....

727Man 18th May 2013 19:14

Type Rated less than 500 on type, 2300TT, 7300FE, had to apply non TR

f27m50 18th May 2013 19:18

steelman 19th May 2013 12:25

samca 20th May 2013 10:25

Any news?? Any yes?
Still waiting. 2000 hrs total, 1000 light jet, type ratef but no hours on type.

Sheikh The Lettuce 20th May 2013 12:14

I see my application is still "under review" and that it was last updated on the 18th May.. It was previously updated on the 24th April so I guess they have looked at it. No PFO email though.

Anyone similar?

Max Payne 20th May 2013 15:28

I just got a "delighted to confirm that you have successfully completed the on-line assessment stage...". 3.100 hours total, 2.300 hours on medium business jets; No, I didn't do the tests with a TRE holding my hand. :E

Guy of Gisborne 20th May 2013 15:29

Just got this:

Good Afternoon,

Thank you for completing the easyJet on-line assessment.

I am delighted to confirm that you have successfully completed the on-line assessment stage of the recruitment process and will shortly receive an invite to join us for the next stage of the process. This will consist of an assessment centre and, if successful, a simulator check.

You will hear from us shortly. Please don’t be concerned if this takes a number of weeks as we have a large number of candidates to communicate with.

Congratulations again and we will be in touch with the next steps.

LocBlew 20th May 2013 15:29

DTC ("Delighted to confirm...") here too.

transitionlevel 20th May 2013 15:29

I'm not sure having a tre do the tests for you is much help. Two tre's at my company got a pfo!

I also got the delighted email. 3500hrs, mostly medium jet non tr.

canadairjet900 20th May 2013 15:30
