Thank you for your posts,
If you were to read my posts, I am sure you will understand that I enjoyed my line flights at jet 2, ie fantastic crews, pay is fine,2 sector days. But unlike you I will not hide the fact that the guys in charge of training and development need to move into this century.
I am not the first to point this fact out, they seem to take enjoyment out of undermining professional crews and their abilities, instead of developing and engaging with the guys and girls it is unfortunately a matter of whip them into shape. This is not as you say a negative point it is pointing out the facts as have been stated before.
If you choose to ignore or hide any aspect of our career, then you are deemed unprofessional by the authorities and a prat by your hardworking colleagues .
So back to the thread,Jet2 is a great job,Pay is fine, line flights 2sectors days with the best folk in the business, fantastic girls and guys,
But for anyone thinking about signing up,as you can see from the above responses, rethink AVIATE,NAVIGATE,COMMUNICATE to Arrogance,Negativity,Condescending.once or twice a year.
To all the jet2 employees your are fantastic,to all who want to join, you will enjoys your days out with your colleagues.
Keep it up

Further to the request on time to reapply - it is 12 months, I double checked this when I didn't get through.

I am unsure however, whether or not this is from application or sim assessment. If anyone knows that would be greatly appreciated - this makes a significant difference to me as it was almost 4 months from application to sim assessment (due to restrictions my end, not theirs).

At the risk of being flamed, it has been a hard summer (but they always seem that way!) and you will always hear from the vocal minority. This gets magnified and exaggerated and rumours like the 30% figure arise!

Most of us think it isn’t perfect, but it is a safe secure job in a growing company. Work itself is fun, some parts are annoying but it is slowly getting better. The intent is there to improve - albeit sometimes not immediately apparent. Overal taking into account the £££ and balancing that with what I want from life it is a great place.

No airline goes without its issues, but life is what you make of it. Most of us keep our heads down and get on with it. The reality is some people can not be pleased and like to vocalise to all those interested or not.

Paddington,
we all work hard for the airlines these days, and all companies as you say are saying they are intent on improving, albeit sometimes not immediately apparent!,
But what is apparent from yourself and a few others is that you find having an opinion or possible discussion on this forum is either too vocal or requires ha ha ha responses ie johnny fathead, joker,
Keeping your head down usually indicates something to hide, ignore or tolerate.Have you no voice.
I think professional pilots should daily ask questions, seek information gather as many opinions as possible in order to diagnose the correct response.
Does jet2 really keep you in fear that you must keep your head down.

Clear of the Tower,

Yes it does. Very few J2 pilots have the courage to stick their head above the parapet to criticise the company or management.

Paddington’s Wellies is right that the company is secure and growing but it is still being run as though it is a small flying club or even a school. That’s it, a school - Pilots are the pupils, base management the prefects, head office management the teachers and all under one head master!

Not in the least bit. I can understand your confusion as rather than broadcastingy moans I actually try to take them forward and get them resolved.

From my experience the vocal minority skew the overall impression and have a habit of creating disillusion that doesn’t need to exist. My single biggest complaint would be the small minority of people who are so vocal, drain the life out of others but don’t actually do anything about it.

JFP is a marmite kind of character - however what you can not fault is that he is trying to make things better and certainly isn’t a yes man.

Actions oeak louder than words - either follow in JFP footsteps (although you might want to be upwind) and try to do something about the bits you don’t like. Or leave, there are no shortage of jobs out there.

ScouseGeordie,
great name tag,You have nothing to fear at jet2,you are a more accomplished pilot than any of the individuals in the higher ranks, I can assure you of that! The school scenario, flying club culture lies at the hands of King Phillip, and the many tiers of bullish management below,
But as you have posted concern that alone shows you have genuine concern for your future career, well done.
On a funny note maybe Paddington is seeking a position at the table of the curry club,Deriving a fellow crew member of the same rank for voicing concerns on that said culture alone shows he is indeed a yes man.But I agree being anywhere in the vascinity of Johnny ha ha fart bag is truly disgusting.Maybe you should follow me and do the 737 crews a favour and leave, or maybe grow a pair!

Let’s not make this thread an attack on my religion.
And try to see the big picture not focusing on smallest details!
Another curry club culture statement!!

You can't take anything 'there she blows' has said as serious, because if they knew anything at all he/she would know the curry club is old news....

It really is a shame that they can’t get the rostering and crewing system right as quickly as they could get the colour of the lanyards right. 2019 will be just as bad as 2018 IMO.

As much as Ryanair got their leave system fixed I guess. Two completely different Airlines comparing Jet 2 v FR. Where's the fixed roster at TUI/Thomas Cook?
You sound as though your one of the 5% brigade

Lets see how many resign in the coming months to move elsewhere. I understand Tui aren’t struggling attracting type rated pilots.

J2 does still seem to be a very different airline for those based at LBA compared to elsewhere. Elsewhere is great! LBA, less so, for the reasons mentioned above. It's not the airport or weather that makes people desperate to leave LBA!

.......... where you can look forward to regular night DLM/RHO/TFS etc getting back at 0600h, winters out of base, deadheading, minibuses back to MAN from NCL after an overnight trip from the Caribbean etc.

No thanks.

That's not really a fair or accurate portrayal of life at TUI. Perhaps there's a reason there aren't threads and threads on pprune bemoaning it?
