To the OP,
Have you considered freighter flying?
West Atlantic are a fantastic little company, with a BFS presence, and they fly a 7 on, 7 off roster. 737-300 and -400 freighters, carrying ULDs with -800 freighters coming on line. They work for Royal Mail, DHL and FED Ex.

Please enlighten us as to how ‘boomers have a lot to answer for’ when they have contributed tax and NI for a career lifetime generally 35 years or so in order to receive the worst state pension in Europe. Utter unmitigated bollox.
Back to the point: Jet2 is an expanding and highly successful airline. They have not threatened or actually made employees redundant to my knowledge and in my experience are a refreshing change to the usual airline profile. They have recently shared out some of their profit to staff. All good in my view.

You will have paid on average, as a percentage of GDP, far far less than what future working generations are currently and will pay. Typical boomer paid in the region of 4-7% of GDP maximum during their working lives. Look at what future generations are now facing due to you lot, insisting on triple lock protection of the state pension, despite seeing the biggest growth in net wealth of any other age demographic in our society and owning the majority of property wealth. The current level of pensions spending isnt covered by NI and income tax combined. Plus, you will retire likely 5+ years before the current tranche of middle aged working people will, whilst the rest of us will be worked to death into an early grave to pay for what you think you deserve.
Bearing in mind UK military spending is actually under 2% of GDP, education slightly more, infrastructure far less, your generation are bleeding the country and the future wealth providers dry. Simply put, you didn't put enough in the pot to pay for your current demands.
Not to forget that despite benefiting from EU membership most of your working lives, decided as an age group to screw later generations further by voting for Brexit. With the back up of final salary pensions and a gold plated state pension which means you have no concerns for what the drop in national income will have for unemployment, professional development and future social care.
Thanks a lot.

Fact 1, The title of a thread dictates what the discussion on that particular thread concerns.
Fact 2, Thread creep occurs when a particular thread veers in a direction that the original creator of the thread didn’t intend.
Fact 3, Thread creep often starts when a particular poster has a bee in their bonnet about a particular subject and is determined to make their point even no one is interested.

Hello folks! Looking at anyone within Jet 2 that could enlighten me on this one.
Recently went through selection and managed to get to the sim - just received an email saying I have passed the sim assesment, but I'm now in a hold pool but no final decision has been made.
Does this mean they are trying to organise bits and bobs before committing to TR dates / class sizes etc or because there will now be an influx of applications from a certain 737 operator who are potentially letting people go?
Spoken to a few of my jet 2 buddies and they weren't aware a hold pool existed.
Any insight would be appreciated!

Hold pool Q
Normal procedure, they will just be figuring out what course dates line up with your notice period with where you are going to be based, depending on which fleet etc
I wouldn't expect much of a delay, 73 courses are running all year round and 75 courses will start up again over the winter

Hi folks! I am just wondering does anybody know how do Jet2 pay employees in Euro bases. I am tentatively exploring the Alicante base 737 DEC option.
Do you guys n gals know if the salary is paid in Euro, on local taxes, or paid in sterling, or paid in sterling with fixed exchange rate, for example?
TIA, best regards!

I’m pretty sure it’s paid in Euros, with local taxes applicable. If you are a U.K. expat that there is something called Beckham Tax I believe that memes the tax rate very preferential.
I cant see the ALC base being under threat post Brexit, the only flights operated from there are to the U.K.

Please could someone provide the latest typical summer/winter take-home pay figures for a NTR FO and SFO at the MAN base? Is promotion to SFO automatic, and how long after joining does this happen assuming joining with a decent amount of experience?
Any nightstops or working out of base?
Thanks.

Wait time in holding pool
Hi all, I passed the Jet2 selection in June and was told that I was being placed in a holding pool pending a final decision. For people who have been in a similar situation, does anyone have any idea how long one remains in the holding pool and whether Jet2 are still actively recruiting non type rated guys?
