VJW,
some of the recruiters have had the last week of October cleared on their roster for interviewing - so depending on how soon after the website opened you submitted your application, you may get called quite soon.

Sorry Guys for returning to an older question but Can Someone Explain the diferences about being current on a Plane? I don't understand Why Aren't you current after 12 month without Simulator? If you have the possibility to renew your Type rating after 5 years of your last Simulator Session. Do You need something more after your renewal for being Current?
Regards.
Regards.
Sorry, but this subject is a bit annoying. Another word for current is 'valid.'
Yes for renewal purposes you need to complete a LPC, but if it's expired you require more training (and you'd have to read up on JAR OPS for that, a TRE I flew with the other day seemed to suggest that it's 2 sim sessions prior to LPC)
Question is simple, is your rating valid- if it's expired, answer is no! Bit like asking if I can fly for my current airline if my rating LPC validity expired last week, of course I can't.

I have been working on the online application and spent a good 90 minutes perfecting an answer to one of the standard question section, when I tried to save it, I got logged out, when I returned to the page, the information field was blank, argghhh!!! Really annoying, probably more so as I have been so busy today and I am literally stealing time to do this. Try again! Any good tips from previously successful speedbirds regarding these questions would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Thanks.
DRM1973,
Tip 1 - Do your composing 'off-line' in a word processor or similar, get it right, and then cut and paste it in to the on-line form?
Tip 2 - If Tip 1 is not your style, and you use Firefox as a browser, then get this plugin (I use it and it works a treat!) - Lazarus: Restore lost forms with a single click

VJW,
Yes I am with you. I only submitted the application this afternoon as I have been trying to 'perfect' it all week! I hope I'm not to late. It will be very hard when people start posting about their interview dates, especially if you haven't heard anything. Oh well lets wait and see!
Best of luck

Will be interested to see what happens. I filled in the application in full on the day it opened....had most of the content of the 'essays' pre written from cover letters i did previously. Although reading this thread i feel a bit afraid that i didnt write enough, i thought it was better to keep the answers robust and to the point, coming in with under 250 words.
Anyway no point in beating ourselves up over it, im just thankful i still have a paid flying job if my application ends up in the bin.

I completed and submitted my application on Tuesday evening (05/10)
I got an auto response email back and the app shows as submitted on the BA site.
BUT....
Yesterday (06/10) I got an email advising of the new closing date and saying my app is not yet complete.
Anyone else get the email having already submitted their application?
Did everyone get the email?
Thanks

i work for a small 737 operator. what about everyone else?
this will hopefully be my second and last time of applying.
is it just me or looking at the job advert properly, it does NOT mention what aircraft you will be going on (like previous DEP schemes) neither did the email to all current ba boys, it just says current requirement i for 80 pilots, it could be on anything!!
seeing as boeing is bascially a common cockpit with a few days conversion to 767/77/747, guess airbus will be staying airbus with all the a320 orders.
fingers crossed, this is what the market needed and may it continue

Jet Setter 01,
The initial website and the 'rumours' from within state that ALL recruiting for this financial year will be to the Short Haul fleets. The 320 fleet at LHR is expanding slightly into next year and the LGW 737 fleet is remaining static.
The internal pilots 'wish list', Priam, to move between fleets was published for input this week. I would suspect that the company is being proactive about the wish for many to move across to the expanding 777 fleet this year. Bear in mind that you will be initially type frozen for 5 years upon entry at which point you may bid but BA will only look at your bid if desperate, something that won't be happening for a while!
If you get in, in all probability, expect the 320 at LHR.
