WOW a spectacular turn around there!!!!

Does this mean that the offers to all pilots within BA of unpaid leave is no longer and that things are looking up again??

Anyone else had good news?

All a little too convenient, but perhaps he/she had had enough abuse and thought it to be the easy way out - somehow I think the abuse is only just about to start lol!!

Like I said a couple of posts back it would be nice to get back to the original topic of the thread though

Be interesting to see if any others have received a similar call.

Either that or the recruiting/HR department were, having read his posts on here, fishing and now have him hook, line and sinker!

Still, I hope he does take the position - another step up the ladder for me!!

March Courses

Guys and Girls,

A friend currently on his 320 conversion informed me of the following yesterday afternoon:

1. The training dept are gearing up for SH courses
2. Deliveries are still on course
3. People have been issued course start dates for March

I called recruitment to enquire what the sketch was. The lady told me that they had indeed recruited at least one course for March consisting of some people from the hold pool. As and when more start dates are issued, more people will get called forward.

Reading between the lines slightly:

1. Course start dates ARE going to be issued between March - July
2. Priority will be given to INTERNAL/AIRBUS RATED HOLD POOL/NON AB RATED HOLD POOL in that order
3. Courses may be combined with internal and hold pool pilots

All this was before I had seen the recent activity on this thread.

Lets hope the good news keeps trickling out.

BS

Sounds like a few people owe Bahee96 an apology.

Although, I have to say Bahee, you have a very strange attitude.

Perhaps this thread can now get back on track..

As these are anonymous forums the origins of the contributions may be opposite to what may be apparent. In fact the press may use it, or the unscrupulous, or sciolists*,(or trolls) to elicit certain reactions.

KT,

Sorry I wasn't getting at your post (please accept my apologies if that’s how it looked).

I should have just said I agree with Blighty’s post 1227.

(Having a bad day otherwise I wouldn’t have replied in the first place and continued to take the thread off track….oh no I’ve done it again….DOH)

Guess that's what happens when recruitment stops......nothing better to talk about, so start on each other.....never mind. GL to all for next year if it all starts up again.

GH,

No offence taken. Was also having a rather bad day, otherwise wouldn't have bitten so readily.

Hi Guys

So, is it really true they are now pulling from the hold-pool?

Have been in it since July, any shimmer of light at the end of the tunnel would be nice!!

Cheers

BugSpeed (and everyone),

Not meaning to p*ss on your fireworks, but unless there has been a dramatic change in the program since last week, I can categorically say that there is NO DEP/SSP recruitment for March start dates. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. There are already people who have started with BA but have no actual conversion course date for 2 months, and alleged to be on unpaid leave.

Yes there are A320 courses being run, but solely reserved for evictees of the 737, 747 and a small number of 757/767 people for the time being. The resource plan for 09/10 has not been finally set yet, expect news of it within the next 6 weeks.

Fact: BA have either planned to, or already have, stood down 3 747s, 4 757s 1 767 and 7 737s; 6 new A320s and 4 B777 are due to arrive by next August, with a further 6 B777-300 for FY10/11. These will be one for one replacement for the 747, or expansion aircraft if things settle down.

The plan is, however, very fluid and has a habit of changing. There is a strong rumour that the 767 hull will be staying after all now for example!! If BA had been paying $160 a barrel for oil, then there would most likely be no airline to recruit into!

Once IF the economy settles down (and that is a big IF), BA will be in a position to plan beyond 12 months, until that happens I suspect there will be only a trickle of recruitment, and 99.99% of it will be for the A320 at LHR or LGW for the forseeable future.

Don't get me wrong, I hope your info is true BugSpeed..recruitment can only be good news for you, and current BA pilots.

Hope this is useful to everyone..best wishes and fingers crossed for you.

So i am assuming Mr katanapilot hit the nail on the head?

Doesnt seem to be many of us getting calls for a march 09 course, i've been in the pool since July... just managing to keep my head above water.

Best of luck everyone.

same here.As mentioned a week ago, in the pool since june... no news.

Earlier this week, had a phone conversation with training dept to clear out some paperwork questions. There was no comments made at all concerning courses in 09 or extending the 12 months holding period.

All that was said to me, is that my place in the holding pool was valid untill june 09. That's all folks !
