If some1 could explain me these 2 question :
Oxford Book no. 13, chapter 11 CONTROLS. Q 35 and 36 35. an a/c has a tendency to fly right wing low with hands off. it is trimmed with a tab on the left aileron, the trim tab will : ans. move down causing the left aileron to move up, right aileron to move down 36. an a/c takes off with the elevator control locks still in position. it is found to be nose heavy : ans. backward movement of the trim wheel would increase nose heaviness. HOW ??????? |
"When a trim tab is employed, it is moved into the slipstream opposite to the control surface's desired deflection. For example, in order to trim an elevator to hold the nose down, the elevator's trim tab will actually rise up into the slipstream. The increased pressure on top of the trim tab surface caused by raising it will then deflect the entire elevator slab down slightly, causing the tail to rise and the aircraft's nose to move down."

uniform:
A.35) tip: think tab down, wing down. And vice versa. Here,u wanna raise right wing, hence u got lower left wing. Therefore, tab dn. 4 wing dn. Remember the aileron in d middle goes up,as tab goes dn. Could u plz paste other options of Q.36 |
PP351:
Mate, 1 of ur Q. Doesnt make much sense, as far as I know and I'm sure about it ; non-releif valve, check valve,One-way valve all are the same kind! |
@superdunk
Copy/paste from wikipedia ;).. But even though it talks about elevators.. it does convey the message :D.. even I was lazy to type it all.. and copy/pasted.. was gonna edit.. but too much language change lol :D
|
Whats wrong with wiki?
As long as you verify the sources, and in no way I claim it as mine hence the quotations. The example given is that of an elevator but it clearly tells how it is used in conjunction with a control surface. |
yup true superd, and the same thing goes for the aileron trim tabs,so as per the Q 35 the trim tab of the left aileron will move down causing the left aileron move up and due to that the right aileron will move down to counter the tendency to fly right.
As far as the next Q 36 is concerned in that case,If the aircraft takes off with the elevator is locked as with a control lock, the use of trim will be backwards(i.e opposite). Any use of the trim wheel will be as an elevator. To raise the nose of the aircraft you must raise the trim tab. Confusing but true. cobracommander u might be right as they all having same meaning but m not too sure what were the option given at tht time |
Examination center change
hi guys i had applied for mumbai center and they gave me CHENNAI
well n e idea if v can get our center's changed ( wierd Q. ) but just in case if ne 1 has done tht plz reply . |
-effect of PNR if fuel flow is reduced to 3%. ?
-effect of 90 deg crosswind in CP movement..? Jus need a conformation on these 2 qns ...?? thnx |
soulplane if fuel flow is reduced by 3% then distance to pnr will increase by 3%,as pnr is directly proportional to endurance as quoted in previous posts by someone and in ur next question cp will remain same but the ETA increases.
Just wonder are you having the jet aug 10' paper. |
Hey everyone,
One of the subjects we will be tested on is Performance according to the Call letter. Any books you guys would recommend to study performance? |
i had applied for mumbai as well and got chennai as my centre....my reference was 82XXX ...whats yours? i hope its not because of overcrowding that they have sent us to chennai. im trying to get in touch with hr department of jetairways.
|
ground up is good for performance,,,they used it last time as well to extract questions
|
Thanks all for sharing knowledge :)
in the 35th i am confused with the que itself, wht they really want to ask. is it abt wht is making the a/c to fly with right wing low or what action shud be taking to compensate that?? 35. an a/c has a tendency to fly right wing low with hands off. it is trimmed with a tab on the left aileron, the trim tab will : ans. move down causing the left aileron to move up, right aileron to move down it is trimmed with a tab on the left aileron, the trim tab will -> according to me it is asked abt the trim condition which is making it to fly with right wing low...... then the left trim shud go up, i.e. opposite to aileron :ugh: |
Uniform the question is what would you do with trim tab on the left wing to counter this situation
so left aileron up ---> this means left trim tab down |
@ Aroumika
i might sound rather stupid, but i'm just curious, my roll number is around 4300, does this mean there's approximately 4500 applying for just 40 vacancies (from what i've heard) or are the roll numbers based purely on the centres? if it's 40:4500, that's less than 1:100, pretty slim ratio :ugh: something like a hotel room number. 501 means 5th floor, room number 1 :) cheers, P |
same here guys applied for mumbai gt chennai......as center.... never been to chennai have called jet hr dept....hopfully they do smthing bout it....
they just put me on standby....said they will get back to me....:ugh: |
Hope everyone got their call letters by now...
Is there anyone who still haven't received their call letter ? |
applied for chennai but got delhi!!!:ugh:
|
applied delhi got chennai , anyone had a word with HR if it can be fixed anyhow ???
|

Hi,
Can anybody help me out with these questions ? 1. In an aircraft with 100 seats but 49 passengers only, how many cabin crew should be present? 2. In a flight from Europe to North America in Summer will you have a headwind or a tailwind? thanks in advance, if you can also tell me where i can study more about the two mentioned questions, would be great! cheers, P |

lateral axis..
|
hav a doubt..dihedral is the angle btwn wing and the horizon OR it is btwn wing and the lateral axis? |
36. an a/c takes off with the elevator control locks still in position. it is found to be nose heavy :
ans. backward movement of the trim wheel would increase nose heaviness. I guess you should consider the elevator "locked" and then do the quesiton you should understand the things then :D trim tab is not helping ;) |
has onlyone from delhi still not got the roll number?is jet airways still sending?
|
@vt-ASB
Metar-A METAR is not valid for any time period. It is an actual observation at a specific time. They are normally made at hourly or half hourly intervals. If the weather changes by a significant degree a special observation,SPECI, will be made and issued. TAF- it is issued by CLASS I met offices, valid for 9hrs with maximun upto 24hrs. TAF valid for 9hrs issued every 3hrs and taf valid for 12-24hrs issued every 6hrs. SIGMET- it is issued for each FIR every 3hrs commencing from 0100UTC. AND if sigmet is issued for volcanic ash or cyclone it is issued for 12hrs before the validity period and reviewed every 3hrs. it is issued bye MWO. :ok: |
