Capt.Saki 1st Mar 2011 16:10

folks how were da xams??

aroumika 1st Mar 2011 16:11

yep it's 20 mins before/after, not 30, i'm quite sure about that :)

aroumika 1st Mar 2011 16:15

@ Capt.Saki

the exams were pretty good, except for the 4th paper (mental aptitude solving figures/shapes) which totally turned my brains upside down! :ugh:
it's still tough to say whether anyone might get through, depends on the competition and the negative-marking factor :ok:

kiitos.patole 1st Mar 2011 21:08

Answer

2. Variation at the equator is ....??
Options:
a)180E/W
b)45E/W
c)0degrees
d)Less than 90degrees

Well, the correct option was
d) Less than 90degrees..

The reason is that, on the magnetic equator you cannot be certain on getting the variation as 45E/W at all times or you cannot have the variation on every point on the ME to be 0 and also no point on the ME falls between the True North and Magnetic North, so no point can have 180E/W
Hence the answer...

Cheers!:ok:

The Agents are here to do some quick advertising.:D

aroumika 2nd Mar 2011 10:09

i don't believe GD requires any extra preparation, but that's just my opinion
it all depends on how spontaneous and logical your thoughts are with respect to a given situation :ok:

Does anyone know somewhere we can do simulator training more like a refreshers course. Have not flown in 2 years. So got to refresh my ifr skills. Delhi or bombay

Thanks.

CaptGalaxy 2nd Mar 2011 10:47

@ak129

hey as far as i can remember the ques which was asked was about " dihedral" (without mentioning wing dihedral or longitudinal dihedral)........and one of the option was that longitudinal dihedral gives stability around longitudinal axis (which is wrong coz it gives longitudinal stability ) and according to me the correct option was which said dihedral is mainly used to increase lateral stability (which is the case with wing dihedral)......
i'm quite sure that the question was for Longitudinal Dihedral, otherwise it would be too easy.

CaptGalaxy 2nd Mar 2011 10:50

Longitudinal Dihedral Angle is the angle between the Chords of the Main wing and the tailplane, So it's the longitudinal stablity..

Longitudinal Dihedral is the acute angle made between Chord of the 'main plane' and chord of the 'tail plane'
Everyone's marked different answers :) ?

that's correct but i remember reading the option as " 20 mins after sunrise and 20 mins before sunset" so i dint go with that! i hope i was reading right
(or may be my mind was a lil:mad: after folding all the paper cubes !

cheers,

Are you sure? because i'm thinking your answer might be right if the question was for the equator, not the magnetic equator?

Hey,
I am pretty sure that the 4th option is correct for the magnetic equator which has been taken into consideration and ofcourse it would had been correct for the geographic equator as well. Since the difference aint that much between them eh!

Cheers!:ok:

fly.low 4th Mar 2011 15:24

anybody gotta call for GD?

phoenixrk 4th Mar 2011 16:32

i guess they will call after they declare the result for the exam

Fibreglass 4th Mar 2011 16:37

It took them around 2 weeks to announce the results last time.

nsk.air 4th Mar 2011 17:22

Should be by end of next week...

Sierra2467 5th Mar 2011 17:10

How long after the results are announced will the GD's be held?

abhishesh 5th Mar 2011 17:14

roll number clash

hey friends, i had a roll number clash while giving jet paper, when i reached there, someone else had the same roll number, thou the invigilator told us they have taken note of it and our paper will be checked according to our ref no. anyone has any idea what should i do as precaution? anyone knows HR phone number, so i can make sure, things are ok?

thearsenal 5th Mar 2011 17:39

it took 11 days last time. the gd was 1 day after the result was declared. thats what a friend told me

Aviator4u 5th Mar 2011 18:13

last time some 2300 people appeared for it as compared to almost 4000 this time. So its gonna take more time I guess.but i have heard there were no OMR answer sheets last time.

Fibreglass 6th Mar 2011 03:20

I'm not sure if that's true to be honest. I think around the same number of people have appeared this time. Not sure about the OMR, they had us use pens this time as opposed to pencils last time. Not sure if that makes any difference.

Sierra2467 6th Mar 2011 05:50

WHAT! the gd was one day after results declared????
By the way, we will know if we passed only if they email us right?
