@gh0st

yes, try Cathay for her cadetship programme. alternatively you can try getting a license in Oz, Nz or Msia would be a good idea.. some people i know go to australia to find work in relation to their current field, and as a sideline do a pilot's licence.. and once u get your CPL you can try look for flying jobs and consider quitting your land based job.

If u really want to be an airline pilot no one can stop you.. on the other hand u will need to be financially strong to pull through the self-sponsored training and maybe first year of job hunting/travelling for interviews.

gh0st 17th Dec 2010 06:52

merino n umustb - r both of u from the 10 Nov 2nd round interview?

thanks for everyone advice. will take a look at cathay. jetstar cost of about 200k is too high. n if both still fails, i may just have to settle for a PPL n fly for recreation instead of a career.

Merino208 17th Dec 2010 14:04

did mine somewhere in september =)

PatYong 21st Dec 2010 02:48

I just received my first interview opportunity with Singapore Airlines. Feeling pretty excited and nervous already. I was advice to see an eye doctor to do some test. Obviously due to the fact that I'm wearing glasses? Here's what I have been told

P
lease see a qualified doctor (optician not acceptable) for a visual acuity eye-test with and without optical aids (Snellen's Chart) and colour vision test (Ishihara) and submit the original copy of the report on the day of the interview. The cost of the eye-test and colour vision test will be on your own account.

Anyone can suggest a clinic for having this eye test conducted? I did once 4 yrs ago at this clinic located at Paya Lebar, but just can't seem to recall the name of the clinic. Any sensible advice will be very much appreciated. :)

Stallone 21st Dec 2010 03:22

everyone has to take the test

go Raffles Clinic, it's all around the island

shd cost below $20

PatYong 21st Dec 2010 06:03

Thanks for the information. :)

succorer 30th Dec 2010 06:31

Hi bogusrif

I applied a week ago and i have been told to attend the interview on 14th Jan but i'm surprised to see that your are attending even earlier .

anyhow, it's good that you can share your experience to us ;)

my best wishes man :ok:

spidex99 30th Dec 2010 11:19

Jan 14

succorer ...I'm in the same boat as you.
I'm also scheduled for Jan 14. Been reading up on everything.
Wonder how technical it will get ? How far into the planes engine do I need to know besides induction, compression, combustion and trust ?

I hope everyone gets through.
:E

Did someone realized that the fleet size increased these few days on the website ?
As updated by SIA ..the fleet size is now 110 instead of previously 105?... CEO also going to be changed tomorrow.. :bored:

succorer 31st Dec 2010 03:40

Hi spidex99

well, i'm not alone then :D

i have no idea about the technical questions, but looking at the previous interviews it has been always like anything under the sun especially if you already have flying experience which i'm not though ;)

but i'm already pissed off looking at my educational qualifications. i recently graduated with a masters in mechanical engineering so i suspect they would grill me with technical questions :ugh:

good to know about the changes in the fleet and CEO.

it will be great if the Jan 7th batch guys share their experience. it gives us an idea of what to expect. :)

Redsteel 31st Dec 2010 05:22

hi all, I was wondering if anyone could give me the details for where i can apply to the SIA cadetship?

spidex99 31st Dec 2010 06:00

Redsteel.. its on their website. google singapore air

spidex99 31st Dec 2010 12:10

Alwo
Thanks for the tips. I been reading up on planes, engines and the past accident that happens on airplanes to bulk up. Not much of my job is related to aviation but I certainty hope to get in. As for GE 90-115B, i know its for 777-300ER with a thrust power of 115,000lbs and SIA has 19 of these puppies at the moment..

Hope to become a cadet.

PatYong 1st Jan 2011 15:37

I'll be there on the 7th as well.

spidex99 2nd Jan 2011 12:21

Good luck

Pat Yong

spidex99 11th Jan 2011 00:13

Negative. But I figured that there is only so much we can prepare for the interview... u know? :ok:
Also, you seem to be in better shape than me with the technical know how of an engineer. :D

succorer 11th Jan 2011 00:35

spidex99

I have sent you a private message.

billy1980 14th Jan 2011 08:17

succorer and spidex99

Hi succorer and spidex99,
How was the interview? I am scheduled for 21 Jan

Joseph82 25th Jan 2011 05:01

Hello

Hi Everyone !
Great to see many aspiring cadets in here.:ok:
I had gone for the cadet pilot interview last April, but was unsuccessful.:hmm:
Planning to give it another shot this year.

Anyone else planning to apply in the near future?

Joe

Stallone 25th Jan 2011 06:00

just go ahead!!

but be sure that you're different from the 1st time you applied..

meaning you've improved in someways, new qualities acquired etc etc

they will ask such questions..

JDAS 25th Jan 2011 09:07

Good luck everyone and new updates for the aspiring pilots.

Hey guys, hope everyone are keeping their dreams alive.

currently the inside story is there are not enough people passing
the interview process, the next course 160 should know : )
I think the number that made it can count with almost 1 hand.

For those that are applying, be yourself and dont worry about the
technical questions unless you have flying experience. But please
study at least the basic aspects.

as for the ones that made it. congrats! your journey has begun!

and the guys who are already in and "living the dream"
Remember the ones who have fallen...

Stallone 25th Jan 2011 11:14

they're very choosy, so it's just normal the numbers can't be filled

they're even advertising on Jobcentral

oh well

moccajava 26th Jan 2011 00:30

Yeaps... November batch out of 8 only 3 went through to medicals.

Joseph82 26th Jan 2011 01:59

Hi Stallone/Moccajava/JDAS,
Nice to hear from you guys :)
I certainly hope I am different; I guess during my first interview, I did not really show them how badly I wanted to be a cadet.
Hopefully I will be more relaxed, poised and confident this time round..

3 out of 8 from the Nov batch? Oh boy!

Alwo 26th Jan 2011 05:38

alson_tan86 26th Jan 2011 06:00

Alwo 26th Jan 2011 08:25

alson_tan86 26th Jan 2011 20:19

085781 27th Jan 2011 04:11

Stallone 27th Jan 2011 05:05

check your junk mail

085781 27th Jan 2011 10:09

PatYong 27th Jan 2011 11:01

billy1980 28th Jan 2011 01:41

Joseph82 2nd Feb 2011 00:41

Gmonsterisungry 7th Feb 2011 14:39
