Yes, i'm currently based in Sydney. and yes i'm going for the interview on Nov 16. I've spoken to a ex SG cadet as well, he said they do offer discounted flights for cadets going for their interview. But that was many years ago, i'm not sure if they still offer this privilege now. But for other airlines, they do pay for their cadets' flight. I have friends working in AA, and they told me they do offer this. I might just ask them if i got through the 1st Interview, no harm in asking,

Hey guys,

Should I wait to get my bachelor's before I apply for this program?

boing797 17th Nov 2019 18:03

I've seen in the past that this cadet scheme was open to all nationalities. Has anyone heard of people outside of Asia actually getting a cadet spot?

Nope. Singaporeans and Malaysians only.

Any ophtalmologist or even GP will do. I went to see the eye specialist at TTMC clinic at KLCC but very pricey. There are cheaper places but I was lazy to find.

I cleared Class 1 but not the pre-employment with SIA. My medical results are all in the optimal range. Had some eye condition but was declared fit to fly by the specialist and yet, I was unfortunate. :{

Hey man, I'm sorry to hear that. May I know what the eye condition was? My eyes are not great either but I haven't been diagnosed with any special condition that I'm aware of. Going for medical soon.

Anyone know if there is still a height requirement? It is not listed on the requirements but I'm on the wrong side of 1.65m and was wondering if it is still worth applying?

It's not there but apparently the 'unofficial' height requirement is at least 1.62m.

You would be measured when you register for the preliminary. Those below were turned away.

Although it states "Singapore", it does not state any nationality requirements, so it is rather ambiguous. I guess you'll have to wait and see. But you'll have to keep shuttling back and forth for the interviews and assessments, and one thing's for sure is you'll be based in Singapore for the entire time of your training and career if you do get in. However, what puzzles me is why do you want to apply to SIA when you have an abundance of choices in the UK with BA, Virgin, EasyJet, etc.?

Ric7 9th Jan 2023 19:09

Hey everyone, I've got a couple of questions: if our application gets rejected does the "Review status" on the website change? (since once we submit it, it says "submitted" under that voice) Secondly, has anyone who applied in the last months received any response from SIA?

PilotDoctor 13th Jan 2023 19:23

i am also curious about that. not any change yet

SIA Cadet Pilot

Hi guys, is there anyone who is not from Singapore and has applied and got accepted ?

futurepilot2001 18th Feb 2023 13:46

Hey everyone, I was in touch with a cadet pilot who got inducted in Dec/Jan 2023. I asked him regarding the programme and how he got in considering that I had applied and didn't hear back. Turns out that SIA is only hiring Singaporeans (locals) so basically they do have a nationality requirement when screening. It is quite unfortunate that they advertised it so openly and may have intentionally left the nationality part out but yeah.. good luck!

Ah yeah, because I was looking for airline funded cadet programs.
