ABCD Pilot,

We can understand your situation, since we're all almost on the same boat. However, as Indair967 said earlier ... even very good connections may not really work right now .. except maybe SG or Ifly.

Do you have an instructor rating ? Is it possible for you to find some kind of a job to build some twin time for another few months ?
If so, you should seriously consider it. When the times are good again, you'll be a very strong contender compared to several other thousands of plain vanilla 200 hours CPL holders.

By the way .... you should really be focussing on getting your Indian Licences ... I can confidently say, that right now no one will look at your resume or even consider you without the Indian CPL first.

oh well i say that ABCD has taken a lot of beating from all of you...no offence but it sounds right..

anyways..i was curious to know one thing..i am right now pretty close to getting a job in an airline...i wouldnt write which one...but what i was hearihng was that the copanies only send pilots for type rating in groups of even numbers..(eg. 2,4,6,8)so that they can train in groups of 2...is it true???or its just a speculation??

Unless u want to fly SOLO on the Full Motion Simulator..

The airlines send u in pairs.. U ll have an sim partner..
In some companies ur sim partner is going to be another newbie like u..
and in some companies (and in my company) I had a sim partner who was transitioning to this aircraft for his command rating while i got my SIC rating..

so what usually happens is u and ur sim partner are identified by the time ground classes start or during ground classes..

hope it helps..and regarding the airline u re going to join.. it aint going to be a brainer to pin point the one.. i atleast hope its not the big coded airline that u re talking about.. becoz i know they ve taken in a few folks.. who are in the exact position as u mention..

Bonne Luck Amigo !

ABCD Banned...

Just a general info for non-indians in here, ABCD is an acronym for ' american born confused desi(indian)' , so cut him some slack ...I agree with Indair, shanx and their attempts to guide this confused soul.

Thumbs up I understand

Dear friends, I use to read many post, since long time ago,
I don't use to write too much, but, since I had to pay for get a JOB ( I don't want to start a discussion about, this because I really fell bad doing so) I had been thinking to give all my opinions a experiences I lived since I did it.

I had more than 8000 hrs, almost all of them on the MD80/90, but after 8 month without a job I had to take the hard decision to pay me a type on the B737NG to come to an Airline in south Asia.
I really don't fell good with a lot of conditions or so, but this is no the theme I came to say here.
ABCD Pilot, I completely understand you are desperate to get a job as professional pilot, but I really think you must consider all options before take decisions, here you will find a lot of info, some ones are very useful other are s .....t , but remember something, this career, at the beginning looks like a "fast career", at the end you realize that here the one that WIN the race, is the one that RESIST THE MOST, not the one that RUN the most. So be patient. Take your time, look for info, and don't take rush decision.....
It is what I can advice you,
Happy contrails

That would depend, if the "boys" are out or intend going out on strike or calling in sick. Very contagious apparently.

Ha ha ha Good show Guys......

Latest abt Spice n Indigo...

@ Spice : No hiring of outsiders like us until Dec 2010....As their own cadets are
depressed and going berserk...(Backdoors...Yes...ur dad is in dgca...Then a big YES!!! )

@ Indigo : 15-20 Pilots required until Dec 2010...40 cadets in training will join the fleet throughout the year.
Any news about Deccan360 guys??

And for some humour........

2 a/cs are grounded in paramount due to technical snags...
So they invite trainees who can charter an E170/190 for free....

PS : Trainees who can buy their own E jet will be given preference....

"Indigo : 15-20 Pilots required until Dec 2010..."
Is that a total or monthly figure?
