RE:SpiceJet Q400 .

Hey Guys and Gals . Just wanted to clarify something . SpiceJet's advertised for Q400 Captains and transition Captains ( Ie experienced Turboprop drivers ...) but I'm a bit unclear on what they actually require in terms of Citizenship . Do you need to be an Indian National to be eligible for the Transition Captain program or not ? I suppose that the answer is yes (unfortunately for me ) but I'd like to hear from anybody who actually knows for sure .
On the other Hand , I'd be curious to know if it could potentially work out for a friend of mine who is of Indian Descent and actually flying in India on another Turboprop ?

Regards to all ,

Perceval

@perceval

For Senior FO's and Transition Captain you need to hold an Indian DGCA issued ATPL
The Indian DGCA only issues Indian licenses to Indian Passport holders

For the Direct Entry Captain Position any ICAO issued ATPL is more than enough but they also requires PIC time on type ( Q400 )
They will have to hire foreigners for the above position as there are Indian Pilots qualified to fly the Q400 yet

Devil

With all the rising evil oil rally fuel prices, currently priced at 102$ a barrel and the Egyptian turmoil taken into account, we're going to have to be hoping on positive levels that the prices don't rise dramatically higher than anything else in the world and that can have a serious impact on airlines' expansion plans. It might put them on second thoughts. Oops!

Glasses used to be a major no-no when i gave my medical for the Airforce several years back, but things might have/be changing now..also the medical standards are not that stringent for coast guard

Best thing would be to get in touch with the selection board in Noida and ask them personally, over the phone or in person.

One of my friends has finished his training and is going to start his tenure, any questions that i can answer for you, i'd be glad.

-Go air is pretty comfortable right now with regards to flight crew, and their orders for more a320's doesn't really look like happening this year.

-Kingfisher is trying to rally after the downturn and is lagging behind other carriers, they just changed some of their orders and possibly will be focusing a bit more on the domestic sector.
Add to that they have inducted/are inducting their cadet pilots that were put on hold during the recession
Whatever minimal hiring that is taking place is from word of mouth, unlikely they will come out with a public advertisement, atleast not for this year.

-Air India is looking for the second batch for ab initio on the airbus, other than that you have to wait and see when the next bunch of planes arrive. This way things will start moving up and more entry level positions might become vacant.

-Spicejet is currently looking for experienced/Type rated pilots, particularly for their Bombardiers. They too inducted their cadets last year.

-As for MDLR and Paramount they are still trying to sort out their paper work and financial/strategic plans for the future.

Air India is looking for B777 type rated pilots with some hours on it (but they not going to find these guys easily, if there are any they would probably go to Jet or Middle east) and they wont take Expat FO, if you are a TRE or TRI on the 777 then you can try. Occasionally they recruit internally from IC and AIX.

If you have only a CPL with 250 hrs then make sure your dad is a Senior Captain, politician or a high profile man.

@ superdunkaroos : sorry , but ur info is incorrect

GoAir: Recruited 6 guys on 14th Jan, joining 1st March

Indigo: Recruited 11 guys on 24th Jan, but only 5 joining on 1st march (sim check remaining)

Jet Airways: Recruited more thn 50 pilots in last 3 months, with 3 diff exam, last being on 11th march.

Paramount is abt to start excepting 320 and 737 first officers, already accepting captains

Spice took an exam on 10 Jan, and next exam is on 25 and 28 march.

ALL THE ABOVE INFO IS 100% ACCURATE AND IS ONLY FOR INDIAN CPL HOLDERS WITH TR.

Have they already sent out call letters for the spicejet exam that you mentioned which is going to be conducted on march 25/28?

Also, there was a spicejet exam that was conducted on jan 10 was for cpl freshers I heard, is that true?

Indigo - 15 managed to clear the interview and have been issued LOIs in the last recruitment drive.

Jet - the last written for the NG was on the 14th of Feb, not the 11th.

Spice - the next written is strictly a "maybe". Since I guess we are pretty much stocked up for this year.
