I don't think the arrangement is like that but perhaps more an aggregation of the successful medicals from previous interviews into a coming open OBS session. This would be considered as one batch.

medicals..
Could someone tell me if SIA will notify people if you are unsuccessful in the Medicals. Do they let you know that you are unsuccessful by email, phone etc or do they keep quite and we have to assume the worst.

I wouldn't know who are the ones going to be part of the 80 cadets for the 09 courses as I do not have the info. Keep your fingers crossed.

Looks like they are not doing recruitment even after June. I am not surprised if they freeze recruitment for 1-2 years.
SIA do local recruitment only a few times per year. They went to Malaysia and India to do recruitment too.
SIA seriously do not need locals (Singaporeans) to fill the ab-initio cadet vacancy. It is a fact.

SIA Cadetship
If you (as the applicant) are not selected for SIA cadetship, do not blame yourself (because you have already tried your best). And also, please do not blame SIA or CAAS.
Bare in mind...
1. SIA has full right to reject or not to accept local applicants. SIA is a private organisation, and they can do anything they want.
2. CAAS has no control of foreigners converting to CAAS license.
Please blame three people below for allowing SIA (or other local Air-Operator) to recuit foreign cadets/pilots as well as encouraging foreigners to convert CAAS licenses easily.
Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Minister (for MOM)
Tan Chuan-Jin, Minister of State (for MOM)
Hawazi Daipi, Senior Parliamentary Secretary (for MOM)

Source of your info? Are you working at SIA?
I would imagine SIA will show favor to locals and Malaysians when there are spaces open. They will go into other countries when they can't find enough qualified candidates to fill their spots. It's rather difficult to find 100 healthy males with good eyesight and decent aptitude in Singapore alone you know.
They've opened up India recruitment in the past, but closed it down after the poor economy limited their pilot requirements. They don't really call them back.
But Singapore being Singapore they might love foreigners even more now.....only someone involved in recruitment can tell us the real truth.

Droste might be right and he might be wrong as well. no one really know when it will reopen again except the recruitment people. I guess we just have to be patient and wait for that opportunity again. at the meantime, just spend more time preparing ourselves for that day
