I think the point is people are still taking the job and working essentially for free without housing, when two years earlier cx was hiring pilots with the same experience and offering housing...

Not in the states! First-Five year FO pay is higher than any LCC and Major!! Not to mention CX still has a pension plan which most companies abolished during bankruptcy proceedings.

I'm in the same boat, not really too optimistic about the update in the 3q. But you never know, 30+ airframes still to be delivered. Of course they could delay them or just park them in the desert...
