That’s correct. You don’t even need a CPL to work as an FI, so a Class 2 medical is sufficient. Commercial flight schools might be reluctant to employ you though.

Controlled airspace doesnīt have to be Class A-D. For small airfields with few IFR movements Class E down to the ground allows IFR and doesnīt prevent VFR operations for no good reason.
