Comments, please!

OK, I've read all the posts. I have one question that bothers me a bit.

Higher RRPM gives a greater rate of descent. So, in the flare, wouldn't the best practice be to not build up too much of it?...

Jeez...

What a bummer! Is this a Brittish/German/Swiss thing? The way this is going, we will soon see ourselves in world of twins only, all operating under about one foot of paperwork per flight and at a...

A few impressions...

I started turbine transistion on the 330 9 months after I got my PPL on the 300, which puts in the summer of 1997. I have never had an issue with a start and I have a few observations that have been...

Qustion...

John,

Are they operating as far as 140nm from the ship? That sounds odd (unless it's an AS355).

Do you know what they're doing there so late in the season or, for that matter, which ice breaker...

ANR

Foggy,

I am not an audiologist either, but if we just concentrate on what's entering the ear itself, ANR really does cancel the air movements by applying counter waves with the speaker. Given that...

Easy!

Head down, because the rotors have motion in them. Any good helicopter shot can be ruined by frozen blades. I always make sure I have around 1/80th shutter speed in order to get about 15 degrees of...

Another good one...

I got myself a Lightspeed Zulu (Lightspeed Aviation - ANR, Passive and In-the-ear pilot headsets - Home (http://lightspeedaviation.com)) with Bluetooth connectivity and it really works well. Price...

Stuck...

FH1100,

I agree totally that it is a fairly high risk procedure, and I also agree that it is very unlikely to happen. I am, however, still in favor of training it as much as possible due to the...

Blades...

All Bell, and since they've been on from 1975, it should be -033. Do you have a set in the garage?

206 B-II main rotor blades

Yikes, we're getting close to expiration on the first set of blades on a 1975 206 B-II. Long wait for new ones and the market looks drained. Anyone here that has an extra set with some time left on...

Traned it a few weeks ago

In Swedish proficiency checks, failed tail rotor control is always on the list of things to practice (even for PPL(H)).

Like Gordy says: fly the aircraft - you are not in a hurry. Assuming stuck...

I think I recall something about combining gear box failures being a main issue in the North Sea operations. Is this true? If so, then that would be a definate factor against twin engined...

SE-JBV was sold to, I beleive, The Philipines. Here parked close to my home:

New rules in our country. If you have less than 1000 hrs you can do PCs by group and all types within the group that you have at least two hours on are renewed.

If you have more than 1000 hrs all...

I am Swedish so "Ekorre" would be most appropriate for the AS350 ;)

H500 or B206 in Christchurch?

Are you guys telling me you haven't had the requirement for alt static, movable light and pitot heat previously in the UK? When I took my PPL(H) back in 1993-96 it was all required.

Run-on...

I'd say "fine". I've only done around ten to fifteen knots or so and that was not an issue. As usual you bleed of the speed carefully with the pitch and there is no tendency to roll forward.

90/90

Has no one tried the good ole 90/90 rule? 90% NR, 90kts. It really adds range to an auto in the 206. You find yourself with the left hand pretty high and as long you watch that NR you will go really...

Garmin GAE-43

Or rather, Sandia SAE5-35, is cheap and works well with Garmin's transponders... Buy either from Garmin or from Sandia.
