Yes some people who cannot delay their trips and have no UK relatives or colleagues to take their baggage to LHR later are going to end up fedexing their luggage if BAA won't let it be checked in and...

It seems obvious from the transcript that the tower made a mistake in clearing a runway crossing and take-off at the same time.

If you are asked to get a move on by ATC before starting a descent, or if you are given a late descent, why not use them?

But that really was due to appreciaton/relief ;-).

The air conditioning relief valve went t/u on takeoff and the ceiling panels started blowing off...

I guess a 3 way call would work, however it would be harder for the union rep to give 'the stare' or a swift 'kick under the table' if such was needed.

As a frequent piece of SLF, as well as someone who knows a bit more than nothing (but much less than a licensed pilot) about flying, I enjoy listening in to Channel 9 of the SLF 'in flight'...

In the US runways are numbered by magnetic bearing - I assume they are in Canada too? Therefore occasionaly they change number as mag North moves...
