Very bad news indeed.....I know some good folks at EAE.

On a positive note, the World is short of ATR crew, so hopefully they will all get a new job soon. I believe that EAE will cease operations...

reminds me of Pantelleria where we go a lot (small Italian island in the Med off the Tunisian coast)

Not a big problem for us (in ATR) but is interesting to watch...

Samsonite gets my vote.....have used their stuff for years and currently do around 8-12 flights a month as pax. It is tough kit and very durable and I get a lot of stuff inside for my 3 weeks away...

I believe that the longest runway in the EU is at Madrid Barajas......over 4000m.....it's high and very hot in summertime......so performance is a major factor here.
