The picture comes from avsim.com (pastasolex.zip) its a freeware file for FS2004, but of course I think it was a cover up for Silsoe Sidleys adventure

It would take me a month to explain this thread basically it was about a round the World Trip in an Autogyro a Worlds First, sadly that failed so we are hoping to keep the British dream alive by twisting Sid's arm and concious into doing a "Virtual" attempt..Thats as long as we can keep him sober enough to try

So, what do you try to do, is it a "flaming" thread or a support one ?
I was sad when i learnt the global eagle was to stop in india..
what is your opinion?
thanks

I think we were all disappointed when it came to an abrupt halt, fair to say there were some "flaming" but also some hopefully excellent humour throughout this thread, my opinion...well it would have been nice to see it concluded or continued but that was not to be, hopefully one day Barry the pilot will tell all the events and circumstances of the trip and its demise . But that's for him to say and not me or anyone else I think... But hey on a lighter note we can pursue Sid to the end of the keyboard with demands he finishes the job even if it is on computer

Volrider,

it is honourable to let Barry say it by he's own words, i agree.
I am also very curious to read the trip story.
Humour is not forbidden, fortunately.
good continuation, than you.

volrider,

Sidley has been quiet for too long and I for one do not believe that he has just ridden into the sunset.

Could it be that some " spectacular " is in the offing ?

Regards to all,

E5

After such a mild winter it was hard to continue the hibernation process.

Talking of hard, it would appear that this was another reason for my awakening, as the lack of skin prevented me from keeping my eyes shut !

Waiting for me on the doormat was the AAC Newsletter, so I immediately flicked to page 3, as you do, to gaze upon the beauty theron. Dissapointed I was not, as there was this issues lovely, showing her assets in front of Sandhurst Old College.

My eyes became attracted to the opposite page, page 2 for those visitors from the site of the 18th plural , for the header was those immortal words, GLOBAL EAGLE.

Apparently the attempt had fallen foul of severe monsoon weather in India. I hadn't dreamt it during my slumber, It does rain during a monsoon!

A glow came to my heart, as I read the last paragraph telling me that, ;
"We hope to publish the epic story of his passage to India in the AAC Journal next summer."

EPIC STORY! Barry rise up, your people need you. Lead them from these lands of fruitlessness to pastures green and pleasant. To a land you can call your own.

Perhaps things may have worked out better if good old rifle toting Charlton Heston was occupying the 2nd seat.

11th Commandment;

"Thou shalt not go to India during monsoon season in an autogyro, for though shalt be made to look a right wally."

I believe Charlton also does a good line in water dispersment!

As it seems, King Canute was the stick buddy on this mission.

'1032 - Discovery of the first anagram' (King Canute)

Right then, I wonder how is the Freedom of Information Act going to affect the Journals article. I shall look forward to it with baited breath as the truth will out, so I am informed, eventually.

The truth is out there........

Does anybody else find it a little funny that NOBODY will tell the truth about what is/was going on?. I reckon it was a top secret cover for a spying mission or testing of a new technology and without Mulder and Scully we will never get to the bottom of things.

On a more simple basis there is a rumour that the "Eagle" did not have an in date permit to fly and so could not of been flown anyway!!!!
Could the monsoons of been a cover story? Would that explain the rather suspect time line at the end? The total lack of pictures of the drowned machine? The wall of silence?
Seems that there is more to this than meets the eye.
Come on Bazza, spill the beans and dont make us look any deeper......

Spilling the beans? That reminds me.

Over the Christmas period, I sent a donation of 2 cases of Alphabetti Spaghetti to the DNA, continuing the GE charity cause.

What I don't understand is that they were sent back to me with a note warning me not to take the Michael.

Strange that after this incident, Alphabetti Spaghetti has now been renamed as 'Spaghetti Letters'.
(Not enough Ts in a can apparently. EU regulations state that the product must be able to spell itself. )

It's a funny old world, especially as noone has noticed the glaring mistake in the rename! (letters / alphabetti)

ML,
I had heard rumour of these things, from 'sources at XD'.

are you sure?

Crikey!!! If what Gobbie reports is true then what a bag of worms that opens up!!!!!! That implies that there could of been no intention to carry on and we were all being fed a line of top quality bulls**t

Well well well!

Just been checking with my sources and wow have they been having fun up there in Dishcloth! I guess if i was an investigative journalist i would be rolling ny sleeves up and sharpening my quill. Sounds like there is so much going on. As yet all unratified so will not grace these pages till that is carried out. Apparently BJ was going to be up for an honour!!! MBE no less!!! (eMBEzlement?) i will leave it there and welcome the script of the great wordsmith himself.

Get a life!

What is it with you people? You weren't happy with trying to ruin all the good work we did during this expedition you even tried to ruin my career! Thanks to one of the main people on this thread, my CO was forced to instruct an SIB investigation into the cash flow of Global Eagle. You people have no idea how serious a charge that is, you have nearly ruied my life, what the hell do you want from me?!? I tried to pull off something that has never been done before and failed, if you think you could do better, you go and give it a go. As for the 'Investigation' I gave the SIB permission to look at my private accounts, the GE accounts and anything else they wanted to look at and after all of that I am in possesion of a letter, signed by my CO stating that there was found to be NO case to answer. There never was.
This expedition has cost me enough. I had put my own house on the line for GE and have lost it, I risked my life for parts of it and I have asked for nothing in return! The Army wasn't paying for 90% of GE, I was. Tell all TT, why do you attack me so much? We haven't even met before what is it that you want? And don't come back with 'the truth' boll@#*s, tell people what your real agenda is.

Wow!

At last you reply!!! Cool. Now instead of playing the wounded hero simply answer the questions.
Where is all the charities donations go to?
Did you have a permit to fly?
Any picies of the flood damage?
Why continue to collect sponsorship knowing you could never fly it again?

Hi,
such personnal attacks are really short sight.
I don't know a word of the story but i couldn't accuse someone publicly without a single evidence knowing what are the possible consequences of that.
Some may find funny to play "sherlock holmes", but i think that their bloodhound talents should be better used in better causes.

Do you think the MI5 came in india to erase all evidences and flash the memories like in "men in black" ?

I'm ok to read the truth but don't shoot the ambulance.

The fact is that something unusual was tried and maybe failed, but mùore because of the lack of money, do you think he recieved tsunami donations comparable amounts ?.

if some like gyros here, they should support that venture, not spit on it.

Thanks

Tell all TT, why do you attack me so much?
Have I been attacking? By saying you should have taken Charlton Heston as opposed to King Canute, is more like taking the pi$$, don't you think?

Did the CO soley base his 'forced request' for an SIB investigation on posts here? A Rumour Forum? If that is the only reason such drastic measures were taken, I would suggest there was more than smoke being fanned. Wouldn't the SIB assess sources and validity before furthering the investigation?

Why did he give you a letter, saying there was no case to answer. Is this usual? A little out of the ordinary to be given a 'get out of jail free card' by the CO isn't it?

----------------------------------
Anyway, Just some more of your quotes;

"Get a grip, put your lives into perspective and grow up."

"I have to admit, those last few pages were funny."

"I know what makes Sid tick, I know because he visited my office when I was away and said sorry for some of his comments. Sid was the subject of conversation today, talking about the days when he was in this Regt and i've consulted him, as a friend, on a number of issues regarding Global Eagle."

"You are quite right to criticize me for failing to do what I set out to do."

"I´m sitting in Friedrichshafen in stunning Wx but the Alps is pants! This is the first time i´ve read this thread, umm, whatever, quite funny the views people have, harsh but fair I suppose."

-----------------------------------

Take this thread how it is, however, if you are going to accuse me of attacking you, based I believe on the last few posts, I suggest you look at the posters name first.

I only post here with the one username, so perhaps you would like to vent your spleen elsewhere.

By the way, any chance of a pic of the Autogyros damage?
Surely someone is able to post one!

'What is it I want?'
I dunno, 600 posts and 30,000 views maybe.
Perhaps even a 5 star rating.
