wg13,

You asked
What is your major prob with the GE thing??
..and Sid answered. He told you what his major problem happens to be. However, that doesn't rule out the fact that he might have other problems with GE, all of which (though significant) take lower precedence to the difficulties presented by the strange-but-sadly-predictable ending of the venture.
I feel your answer is not the question I asked
..perhaps you need to be more careful in your questioning?

And Sid - that last reply of yours was hardly the rapier thrust of Wit, Banter and Merry Repartee that we've come to know and love, was it? Don't be tempted to stoop to the gutter - even when the temptation is so strong, eh? Look after Molly and the boys...

Thud,

I am sorry, I will try and not let it happen again. In my defence, going over the same explainations in the early hours, temporarily numbed the grey stuff.

Unfortunately we have 'wg13_dummy' on board at the moment, who seems to like hijacking a thread I am on and turning it into a 'chat' forum. We go round discussing the same old stuff as if he hasn't bothered to read the threads.
It's like having a little puppy, the little ****zu that he is, nipping at your heels all the time.
Sorry, couldn't find a picture of a zu.

Molly is thinking of you, as she basks in a nice 30 deg C. Electricity has now found its way out to her and she is very accommodating on a cold and frosty morning!
Warm ear seals, bliss!

I hear you have a new 2.1 km pier out there, will Jim Davidson be doing the summer season ?

Thumbs up

Ta for the news on Molly.

Davidson? We'll book him for the 2.2km slot... I was one of the lucky ones who managed to get away from Drawsko Pomorski before the Army decided everyone had to stay behind to be "entertained". Can't believe that the BBC feel the world needs to see his Degeneration "Game" on their international TV premium channel.

Hot off the press!!!!!

Cost me a few beers but was worth it...
Allegedly our hero is going back out to india this week to personaly supervise the loading of his machine into a container to be shipped back to good old Blighty. Wait with anticipation, surley he will take his camera with him and post some pics on this forum and shut us all up for good- you know " flood damage "and such. Think it is only right that the MOD is picking up the tab for the move, nice work fellahs!. Duty roumor is that it is going to be overhauled and re permitted and sold off with the money going to , wait for it, charity!. Where have we heard that one before? watch and wait i guess....

Thanks for unlocking the wallet for than info ML,

I must admit, I thought it was already back at XD crated in hangar 18

As it's still out there,I bet it's in a right old mess.......now, after sitting in all that moisture and humidity and no doubt no care/preservation.
Surely to goodness, a camera must have been close by when the a/c was seen in situ, waterlogged. Were socks not the only thing forgotten on the trip back out there? There must be a photo somewhere.

Ok, so the MoD is paying for the repatriation of a/c, thanks taxpayers , but who is paying for the overhaul for it to be sold off for Charity?
Why not just give that money straight to charity.

Unfortunately my Indian reporter has gone in search of the Yeti, goodness knows why he thinks he needs to go to Bondi beach !

Awaiting with anticipation,

SS

Speculation....

It is only speculation but the plan seems to of been to leave the aircraft in india as long as possible so that the whole thing could of been wrapped up at this end and then simply slip the machine back into the country and keep it. Afterall it was left in the care of the indian air force and well cared for. Global Ego could be quietly put to bed since the cost of shipping back an allegedly damaged aircraft would be more than what a damaged machine was worth and so leaving it there made good sense and would, with the lack of evidence, fool anybody. But the aircraft not being damaged and shipped back for free make it an altogether more attractive option. The only downside would be having to wait for it to all die down before getting it back. The danger now is that it will be back and all the intrest in the fiasco has not died down yet. Perhaps we should brace for a realy gripping story of personal hardship and sorrow as to why it has been delayed and see if that delay makes it all go away....yeah right!!!!!
This is purley conjecture and is no way an attack on Autorot8 or his career ( or his carer sid!, see above)

Yes, It would appear that some posts are in fact disappearing.

However, I don't think there is any underhandedness going on.
Despite contrary belief the Moderators will let us know if they do alter or v. rarely delete posts, and if they do it will be with a reason as to why so we don't fall foul again.

The most common reason these posts disappear is that a comment doesn't have the same effect a couple of days down the line, or just doesn't make sense once posted, full stop, and the original poster deletes it themselves. Recent posts have had their effect and then removed by the poster it would seem.
(Those amongst us who save the pages as they go along will notice this effect.)

So, much like the famous "Hacking into the Global Eagle Website" affair, in the end it turns out to be something simple. Doesn't it Auto!!!

This post is in no way to be considered an attack on autorot8 or his carer, and if it is I shall look closer at the PMs he sent to me!

Re this new challenge I have a question for you, are there not regulations on how long you are allowed to fly for??

PA

P.S. I heard Virgin were not interested in GE attempt.

Good point Plodin, However as I am in the middle of painting the downstairs 'little boys room', you could always find out yourself and let us know. Thanx

Perhaps the globalflyer webpage, FAI website or even the FAA website, will be a couple or three leads.

Happy searching,

SS

ps. I heard RB wasn't even approached.

deepest darkest India

Word has it that our intrepid explorer is now back in India to supervise the loading of his machine into a container to have it shipped back to the UK. Can only be a matter of moments until he finds an internet connection and posts some pics on this thread of the "flood damage" and shuts us all up, can hardly wait. Or option b, just ignore this totaly and wait for us to get bored and go away. Still no legal action taken against me yet, shame as i was wondering how funny it would be when transcripts of the trial would be published in the papers and how much it would involve the MOD. Michael Jackson would be relegated to page two for sure!. Still, glad to hear some well earned r+r is being taken in India, makes good sense- no point in going all that way and not having a good time......

In the 'Legal Notification' post, (dated 19th February 2005 10:43), he says, "I'm in Middle Wallop for another week, then i'll be in Dishforth." "If you know my phone number, and dare not come and see me, phone me....."

Should have added, "Oh, and you only have a 3 day window to see me as I'm bu&&ering off to India on the qt.".

Strange that today was planned to be my 'pop in for a brew day'. Now I find that he won't be in camp. Guess I needn't bother now.

Perhaps someone got wind that I may have 'dared to pop in'.

After assessing the serviceable parts rescued from the monsoon, Barry was able to rustle up a flying machine.

In order to save money on the flight ticket, packaging and postage, Barry decided to fly himself and salvageable parts back to the UK.

Apparently Autorotate was recently seen in a Bombay market, was he buying bits for the rise of the Phoenix?

But not to worry I have it on good authority that Global Beagle is still safe and sound after being expertly watched by the highly trained security staff....

Anyway could have been worse...I bought this lot on Ebay..said one careful owner!

Wonder if they were stored in deepest monsoon ridden India???

Flight of the Phoenix

Just watched said film, not a patch on original but still a worthy film. Hope Autorot8 watches it and is inspired by it. There has to be a good lawnmower or hair dryer in whats left! ( any suggestions welcome). He could salvage the parts and turn them into a rotorvator and drive it back to the uk. He could call himself somthing cool like " Mr Rotovator ", akin to " Mr Motivator " only less lycra and he can have a dig at everybody!. Would make a great film and book, now theres an idea. Thought the boys at GE were writing a book, guess they probably got to 1/4 of the way through and got bored and gave up.
Vol, can you name any of the wrecked planks in your last pic?, last time you lendone to GE!

Well, after writing to Dairylea for some form of sponsorship on behalf of GE, it finally came through.

Those of you who have seen the TV advert for the latest range of cheese products will see 'Dairylea Rippers', (a cheese string type product), and will have noticed the autogyro being flown around. As GE finished before final production and didn't go around the world, they chose to use a generic autogyro, (not too dissimilar to Wallace and Gromits sidecar), and not one based on GE which was the intention on the storyboard.

Unfortunately an opportunity missed, but as far as I am aware a donation was still given.
