Well Jabba, if you look to the right of the spinner there are three points of land, the new house will be on the closest one!:ok:

Crikeys, checked that meself. Ahh try 28D 29.042'S 135D 54.763'E that should get us in the right position. That other set is not even remotely close. Lesson learnt for this little beasty...finger trouble and not double checking is a no-no:}

Those other co-ords are for one of the gas fields around Moomba?????? Glad it's not me navigating.

Does anyone know what causes propellers to look like venetian blinds when you take photos of them with mobile phone cameras?

Shutter speed most likely.

FTDK,
Coober Pedy by any chance?.

ForkTailedDrKiller 2nd Dec 2007 10:26

Yes, Joe. You are correct, of course. That is one weird looking place.

The land of Oz's acne outbreak!

Peter Fanelli 2nd Dec 2007 17:29

Of course it could just as easily be Andamooka or Mintabie too.

kiwi chick 2nd Dec 2007 18:51

Hey, what is that place?!

I just Google Earthed it to have a nosey, it's weird. What are the little white things?!

Is it a mining or quarry town of somesort?

reynoldsno1 2nd Dec 2007 19:11

It's all part of the GAFA - the Great Australian F*ck All ....

ForkTailedDrKiller 2nd Dec 2007 20:00

Kiwi ch(u)ck (note my clever impersonation of a kiwi accent), its an opal mining area at Coober Pedy in northern SA. This one puts a bit more perspective on it.

My understanding is that the little white piles of dirt are where they have put a drilling rig down to see what's there - and found nothing to get excited about. Where they have found something, there will be a mine shaft or more substantial digging.

What are the little white things?!
Earth zits.

Actually, they are tourist traps and they work very well.

ABX 2nd Dec 2007 23:59

Hey Doc,

Kiwi ch(u)ck (note my clever impersonation of a kiwi accent)

Must be my weird sense of humour, that one really gave me a laugh.

Cheers,

Dear Mr Corky McFuz

Enjoyed your earlier photos of strips etc on the coast. If you have any more, please share them.

Its been too long for me since I poked around that part of the world, but seeing some of those shots fires up the enthusiasm juices again. Might even get meself current again on my next leave trip back!

Good onya!

Cheers Dixon.
