Also I hear (on the Company's agenda) is a request for VAI pilots to take a pay cut!

Anyone like to elaborate?

Krusty, not sure where you are getting your info from but that isn't correct.

All people on hold keep your phones handy I would expect some of you to be getting calls soon.

Beetlejoos, that sounds promising. Any idea how many are still on the hold file?

Letters were sent out to those who are eligible on hold for upcoming positions on the 777 on Tuesday, with an urgent request to update details and give current references within 24-48 hours.

Letter sent yesterday saying that sometime in the coming weeks they will assess those on hold for suitability and advised that it is very competetive with lots of high calibre people still on hold and very few positions.

Fingers crossed

4 Crfo's announced this week going to VANZ.
6-9 Crfo's potentially going VAA to be announced in Jul - Aug time frame. Bases and aircraft type yet to be determined
10 Crfo replacements required, timeframe unknown all dependant on sim availability.

HB, I heard recently there were also some A330 spots (Capt & FO) opening up, with a possible requirement to backfill some 737 FO spots post-bid. Will be interesting to see whether they fill them internally of from the hold file. Fingers crossed!

What is that you guys don't understand ?

Virgin is a Basket Case.

The magic man has lost $500 million over the past few years, you have 777s, A330s , 737s, F50s, F100s , A320s, ATRs, -just superb fleet planning

Then Magic paid $60 million for 60% of a company that has lost $250 million since start up- brilliant , he should be CEO of Apple

Qantas will never hire again, Jetstar will be all cadets/QF transfers for years.

The FIFO are a small sector & will be relatively static.

If you want a job flying a jet you are going to have to leave Australia, you might luck out and get ANZ but much more likely it will be in Asia, stop banging on about the Virgin hold file - it ain't gonna happen

There will be no direct entry FO 737/EMB slots unless there is a huge expansion where there are not enough existing CRFO's to fill slots. With GDOJ now in affect, take the first slot available, this includes 777 CRFO slots.

There will not be any expansion because the company is losing money hand over fist.

If anything there will be a contraction and redundancies

It has a fleet mix that would make Ansett look good, and there is no bank in the would lend money to it.

What bank or aircraft leasing company would give this organization credit ?

But wait a minute it has the hot chicks , the cool guys , they you beaut uniforms , and Richard Branson - "it the place to be" as all the GA/Regional dreamers say.

I firmly believe that the 777 is the only way in now, but I am surprised that they haven't sent out an email to everyone on the domestic hold advising them of this. In fact, I haven't seen an email update since late last year!! What happened to the quarterly updates?????
