Twiggs, do you mean Carmen for pattern planning?
S/H has had this system for pattern planning in place for some time now and it ain't pretty. It aims to achieve a reduction in a F/As wage through minimising overnight duties and overtime.
Since it's inception our trips have gone from bad to worse. It seems the aim of management is to have us working 4.20hr duties 5 days a week.
Not sure how it would translate to L/H since most of your sectors are long...perhaps it will really see the implementation of 12hr turnarounds on regionals?
For your sake I hope not.

Posted by Twiggs,
The office loves to think of itself as state of the art and the pinnacle of management but this is a beauty.
twiggs,is this like when the company told us and arbitration that the current bid system was the best in the world?
twiggs office spokesperson,as usual telling us the company line and again as usual with credibility zero
This will be state of the art bidding software as compared to the archaic software we have now.

We already have Carmen for pattern planning.
Next year the pattern bidding software will be implemented.
The Carmen software is developed by Jepessen.

The part that cracks me up is that the office always tells us that the next new thing they want /are pushing is the best thing since sliced bread and we won't be able to live without it.
I can see them in the office now."Hey ***** get on pprune as twiggs again and tell them how good it's going to be"

jetconnect will fly a number of 737-800, transfered from the domestics accross the tasman. this will increase replacing a significant numbe of 767/737 from QF mainline. emirates start flying thier A380 from february to Akl. the geniuses in QF counter by offering cheaper fares (using cheaper labor via jetconnect)as a consumer what would you fly. brand new A380 with 1000 movies/ entertainment options, full meal tray, bar service or a 737 with ahhhhhhhhh. i love it how they give away the business!
Twiggsy- it depends what parimeters you put in the software -what you get out as rosters!!

We all know what the company's parameters will be with any new software and how good it will be for us.Thats why I thought I'd post twiggsy girls post about what she (the company) thinks of male cabin crew around the age of 50.
So packrat, your saying it's a safety requirement to having balding overweight yobbos on the crew?

my point was, why talk about getting rid or modifying the bid system when the software is due to be upgraded in a big way?
When that doesn't work watch out

if the new
jepessen system is put in place with all the current EBA requirements it should provide a senority based system. I can almost guarantee this will not happen. i wonder what selling tactics come from the bunker and what position the faaa will take.

Mrpaxing, since we have a legally binding EBA which includes seniority bidding, the only way it can't happen is if a majority of crew don't want it to, as Michael Mijatov outlined in his latest newsletter.

Twiggsy, nice try but if you are young and naive enough to believe that any contract is iron clad or completely legally binding and that the company would not try anything that benefits them then you also believe in a big guy in a red suite coming next week.
Not only that but in a few months time a rabbit will deliver chocolate eggs as well.
How many times have we seen the company try something that pushes the definition of our EBA?
They did exactly that when they got rid of our 75% stand down system for this bid system that was supposed to be the best thing since sliced bread.
Twiggs, it's obvious that you work in the office but please try to come up with a statement that is at least half believable.
Here are some quotes from Pegasus and it shows exactly what Mrpaxing meant about selling tactics or softening up tactics when we are talking about a seniority system.
His best quote is the next one and his position is made quite clear.

Sadly the Seniority system is to blame for the complete lack of solidarity.
That is why A380 is a more cohesive workplace as QAL and QCCA are all in teh same boat.
I have heard that a petition is being circulated in the QF MELB LH base to introduce Line Bidding.
Apparently the quality of rosters is so bad that many are requesting the FAAA to introduce Line Bidding rather than trip specific bidding in Melbourne

Suffice to say it could be done in Melbourne without affecting seniority bidding in other bases.

The Jepperson/Carmen system will be seniority based in the way it constructs rosters. The look and way crew will bid will be totally different but it will expand options for crew and will quite possibly actually give a better quality bid run still based on strict seniority.
the only way that the FAAA elected officials will negotiate changes to the system will be if the majority of crew on the current system (part 1) by a greater than 50% margin petition or vote for change.
I find it difficult to believe that those criteria would be met. It doesnt however stop the company from creating mischief with flight attendants by stirring them up and suggesting that there are better options available.

wow.... peg...... are you suggesting that AW and her team would ever try and cause division among st us!.......
Surely they would never ever even conceive of such a plan....
On another note I called into crew voice today!
What a joke!
Most of it was S/haul crew whining about the transfer to LH...... one girl was basically willing to do anything (#28) to come across......
Surely It cannot be that bad!
I thought it was funny that the largest base SYD had nothing to say, yet MEL just complained and whined all the time!
what the *&^&* is going on down there.

I for one cant wait till we get rid of the ones that want to go across to LH.
Remarkably yes, there are alot of crew that are more than happy flying SH which has a fantastic work/home balance as opposed to our friends at LH.
Anyway, speaking as a SH MEL FA, I think alot of us are sick at the way we have seen flying get sent everywhere but here. SYD, CNS, PER etc all have vastly superior patterns and the reason we may appear to whinge is because we are fed up at basically being continually shafted. Junior FAs this year in MEL have had huge pay cuts due to substantially less trips being allocated and when we voice our concerns to the FAAA (which many have and loudly) we have been given lip service. This may go some way towards explaining the frustration in MEL amongst the SH ranks.
I suppose an analogy that LH can understand would be if SYD LH base which we all know is pretty big, was to suddenly shrink by 20-30 percent almost overnight. That is what happened here when QCCA started and all the MAMs went over. Upon doing so, MEL flying shrank accordingly with heaps of trips going to CNS PER specifically and poss SYD SH. We have had no growth since except for a few base transfers from CNS which is at least something!
And so I guess, things are that bad down here, but only if u are a junior FA. If/when we get some recruitment into this new entity, we can expect some improvement....but in the current climate, Ill be happy just keeping my full time job!!
Cheers

since most of the mel base is ex short haul and many worked under the old bid lines i don't think there will be much support for a return to the old system. i would suggest it would be a small minority of juniors causing the agitation.
on a different note, today a friend in shorthaul picked up some new uniform and found a form in the package that could be filled out if they wished to transfer to longhaul A380 on QCCA terms. anyone else heard about this? sounds like mgmt are getting desperate to get some experienced crew on to the A380 as many service times on board are exceeding 5 hours

Hello Twiggs.
As much as I want to get out of SH to go to LH, I don't think I'm that silly enough to reveal my identity here by giving out my divisional transfer ranking. Thank you Twiggs for your question anyway. I don't think it would be prudent of me to reveal specific information. (and no I am not #28...but in the ball part though)
Whatever6719...you are not alone in your sentiments....all 800 of us going to SYD LH are desperate to leave too, so we are happy to say goodbye.
I despise SH flying so much...but I just grin and bare it and push my garbage cart up the aisle and do my job faithfully. I cannot see any enjoyment in:
1. Staying in sub-standard backpacker lodges (complete with genital crabs infested bed sheets)
2. Flying with chux Nazi Mothers Club
3. 3-4 hours of minimum rest
4. Rusty tinbox 737 and its ridiculous girt bar
5. Gate reader boarding (yuck!)
6. Sh***yFlyer
7. Doing 8 saftey demos a day
8. Lining cart tops with bloody paper liners.
9. Anzac biscuits or Byron Bay muffins
10. Boarding via airstairs in 45 degree heat in Parabadoo and Mt Isa and Wombat Land
11. Working on the rat-fested, lice-ridden, squatter box of the Rolls Royce
12. Mothers Club (oh did I mention that again?)
13. Mothers Club
14. Mothers Club
15. Being forced to listen to some mother talk about her kid's swimming carnival or soccor match or how they are sick with measles. Who cares? Don't bring your personal life to work...no one is interested!!!!!!
16. Being shown pictures of pet cats/dogs/pigeons/goats/alpaccas from crusty old dried up CSMs from the former TAA. For goodness sakes....why don't you all make some space and take VR. You seriously should not be cabin crew at age 60.
17. Folding pillows and blankets...what's that about?
18. Developing 'Spina-Bifida' from all the years working on a 737 (can I please get some worker's comp happening?)
19. Adelaide; Perth; Melbourne; Darwin; Brisbane; Cairns; Hobart....speaks for itself.
20. Lesbian-loafers (worn by Mothers Club). If I see another pair of Lesbian loafers again, I'm gonna compact them like Chris's
Like I said in a previous post...the only good thing about SH is the garbage collection cart where I can chuck out all manner of service items when I am in a rush during top of descent....eg. oven racks, bodums, salad bowls.
I'm going to miss my garbage collection cart....and I am still trying to work out a way I can souvenir one before I leave SH.

Domestos, it doesn't really matter if that was you on crew voice today or not, but with an attitude like that to your present job and co-workers, I too would be very careful to protect my identity.

Yes Twiggs...you are right...I have thought about committing certain heinous crimes upon my fellow workers...best I keep my identity unknown. Thank you for the advice. Can I ask for your advice as to the best way to dispose of a pair of Lesbian loafers....after all, you are female.

very funny domestos...
I really enjoyed your last post and I am still laughing.
Its great to see your sense of humour!
I think the worse thing would be putting up with the "petty" mentality....
the Beehives are really another breed!
Tell me Domestos, how do you think they have evolved into what they are today!
