Veronica,

I have been reading your posts through out this forum and although I wont sit here and throw attacks at you I am interested to hear from YOU what the alternative is and what you recommend all current applicants do instead of apply for what is on offer now????

I currently fly and it gets so tiresome flying with crew who just moan and complain in the galley, yet they have NO practical solutions, or do anything themselves to change what they don't like.

Just really no need to get hopefuls all worked up and deter them from applying. As I have said in my last post, NEW crew will adjust to the NEW conditions because the reality is they know no better (in terms of historical flying conditions), it is the crew who have experienced the old conditions that find the transition harder as it's so easy to compare.

In saying all this, to all the new crew starting out there, there are bitter people in the airline industry and will always try and make you see the down side to it, however they are a small percentage, and usually they are not well liked by anyone. In general, you will have great support from experienced crew, and I assure you they will love having you on board especially for your enthusiasm.

Good Luck guys

Angel LH work conditions

Have just read the previous few threads........

SF....your comments were great to hear. You sound like the type of person it would be a privilege working with one day. Thanks

Well as in most working environments there will always be negative, whinging types. That is life full stop. The main thing is to keep ones own spirit sweet and not be contaminated by gossip in the galleys.

As for the new applicants like myself. I'm sure we are just so happy to finally have our chance to join the airlines.

Maybe years ago when you more experienced CC joined, there were issues between experienced CC and new CC with agreements on working conditions??
Would be interesting to hear. History usually repeats itself.
Anyhow, all the best to everyone who is anxiously awaiting to be accepted.

To all of you joining QCCA =. It is a fantsatic job, great bunch of people and QF is a pretty good company to work for. When you add up the whole package, staff travel, dry cleaning of uniforms, luggage, transport to and from airport to your first class hotel, slip allowances etc. I would call this not a job as such but a great life style.

Enjoy it, enjoy each other and the passengers. Some are great and some are total Knobs but that s life.

Have a few Q's in regards to QFCC.

As one of the so far successful candidates to have had the invitation for medicals for QCCA, does anyone have firm ideas or direction the new subsiduary will take in regards to regional asian sectors being brought back to LH/QCAA. I have heard that the LHR base have just signed on another two years. Do you think they will close the base and allow new oz recruits the chance to fly to europe?

Apart from having the leftovers after senior crews have bidded, will there still be a mixture of sectors we would be rostered for or will it focus on A380 dominated routes?

No problem at all Veronica....

Thanks for confirming your status in QF, one of the disgruntled expired crew members, seeking to recapture any sense of youth, and sits in the back of the galley, sipping tea and reading Womens Day complaining and moaning non stop....

Cheers SocialFlyer.....

Thanks for the info peg

Come on guys, here I've been given info to join this forum based on information for Qantas FA's. There seems to be a see-saw type of thing going here. Somebody says something negative and then someone else comes in to retaliate. Hospitality has always been one happy hard working family and we should all support each other for our ongoing efforts. There are people in this forum that have given fantastic advice and we should all be appreciative for that. If I get in as Cabin Crew and people are nasty to me ( old or new ), I won't analyze anything just be happy with the job, happy to be amongst like minded people working in a fascinating industry. Just ignore the ones that are mean, they'll soon understand what positive energy is and either move on or could in fact have serious issues, which in that case we should try and help them. I've often made friends with really nasty people, trying to understand why they are that way. More often than not, they are not so upset with their work environment and co-workers but more so personal issues that they simply can't rub off. How do we know what is really happening if we don't ask. Maybe they lost the cutest animal, their friend of 15 years. Lost family members. Maybe they need to be referred to an internal department within Qantas ( sure they have one ) for support. Be nice to the nasty people out there, maybe they will soon wonder why you are being so nice and change their attitude. I love turning people around for the good, unfortunately some people like to add fuel to the fire and in my experience it just does not seem to work. Stay united guys

onlyemirates,

don't worry about veronica. It's just a domestic FA who is having difficulty coping with being, domestic.

I have no problem at all with Domestic crew, when they were Australian Airlines they seemed so happy, then the merger with Qantas occurred and it all seemed to go downhill for them.

veronica you should be delighted with a return to traditional domestic flying. As your Union has just said in a newsletter there is LOTS more domestic flying headed your way and thats got to be a great thing for your morale and job security. The SH FAAA also point out that there is also plenty of work for the MAM crew as well.

Now if some of them want to come to QCCA and fly long haul thats got to be a good opportunity for a full time job for them. If they want to stay flying domestically as casuals that a choice that they can also make too.

My info is that they are all joining the FAAA and many for the 1st time too as they felt the SH FAAA were not looking after them so thats also a good thing for the Union Movement.

The Short Haul crew should feel really comforted that they can go back to the whispering T Jet where they can really show their expertise

Great times ahead for all

Peg

What about those of us that have had our names of the transfer list to long haul for quite some time now? There are plenty of rumours going around that transfer's will never be actioned again but I find that hard to believe considering there are more then a few long haulers wanting to come to short haul, have also heard that "domestics" may have the opportunity to transfer to QCCA but I dont understand how that could occur either.

With the ongoing recruitment and training I doubt divisional transfers will be actioned any time soon but as usual our union keeps us in dark and only puts out random newsletters when the pressure gets to much so was wondering if you had any info on this issue.

Thanks.

Galleyhag,

In regards to transferring to LH. I was listening to "Crew Voice" on 17th January and a SH CSM in MEL had a similar question he put to Allison W. He wanted to know if he could transfer directly over as either BFirst or as a CSM.

A W said that basically if he wanted to transfer over to LH he would have to resign from Qantas and apply via QCCA.

You can ask QF management directly on the monthly "Crew Voice".

Best to hear the gossip straight from Management. If anything it's a good way to eliminate rumours and speculations.

Transfers

There is a provision in the LH EBA that provides for transfers from LH to SH and Vice versa.

It is up to the company if and when they wish to action transfer lists. If SH f/a transfers to LH as part of swap arrangement ie/ 25 LH to SH and 25 SH to LH then the SH crew will come over on the non QCCA conditions.

If a SH flight Attendant wants to come to LH outside of a swap arrangement then its a matter for the company.

from what i understand LH is recruiting about 2000 crew. from what the LH FAAA has said they have no problem with crew coming from SH. Its up to the company if they want them to come on the QCCA condtions or the current Part 1 conditions if not part of a swap course.

There is some interest in SH CSM transferring directing to LH as CSM's and the FAAA's position has been if its part of a swap arrangement ie 1 SH CSM for one LH CSM going the other way its not problematic.

But a direct transfer that would take a promotional position away from a current CSS or LH FA wanting a promotion would not be acceptable.

Pegasus, speedbird etc

I see the longhaul brigade is out in force again. Bagging anything domestic as usual.

As I have stated before, if you speak about and treat your fellow work colleagues like this, how do you treat the passengers!! I'd hate to think. No actually, I know!

Veronica,
They are only reacting to your antagonistic posts. If you were genuine then you would have answered the question about s/h relationship with mam.

You work with mam crew and they don't enjoy your conditions yet you criticize l/h for our eba?

It looks like another example of sour grapes on s/h's part.mam crew joining l/h must be pleased they have done so....whispering T-Jets

Attention mods!

Mods!

Could you please kick veronica out of this forum. Her posts are always antagonising and tend to derail this forum. This forum is supposed to be about "QCCA", but veronica keeps on turning it into a longhaul vs shorthaul war. I don't want to see this forum closed because of trolls, like some of the other QF forums.

Thank you.
