sad

Im so disappointed! I got the chance to go the recruitment day. I was SO over excited, asked my boss for time off. The day before, I had my hair all nice like, my nice new clothes, my police report, birth cert copies of everything ect… and my boss says NUP cant have tomorrow off. Needless to say I was devastated. So next time Im just calling in sick… does anyone know when/if there will be another recruitment day… give me some hope here people!

Mr Seatback 2 18th Jan 2008 02:08

Seminars will be ongoing...They've got three next week that I'm aware of...

With 2000 positions to fill over the next two years, I'm sure there'll be one for you somewhere in the mix!

Fingers Crossed 18th Jan 2008 04:26

I went and so did a couple of my regional buddies!

Very interesting to say the least

Seems to me unless I stand corrected that they do want a mix of current cabin crew and also people with no cabin crew experience. What did everyone else think???

regional 747/767 v A380

do u get a choice which plane(s) you fly on?
A380, 80% crew will be 'b' contract, lots of lax flying.
rest of 'b' will fly regional under the new eba as current
l/h will not find the new regional slipping formula attractive
re slips/allowances tho some will like the quick build up of
hours. non A380 will also probably get plenty of jo'burgs
and perth returns... currently highest trips for sick call ins.
maybe find out if u can transfer b/t 747/767/A330 and A380

Hey guys...quite new here. Re: Mr Seatback, you're right. There are 3 interviews next week. I'm going on that week. Anyone else here going.

Any hints? I'm so nervous I could eat a chair. I'm a bit stunned with how much we have to fork out for this interview, but heck my mother said it might be all worth it. (Hope to God)

I'm having a bit of trouble with the Criminal Check as the police I spoke to today said it won't be available til a couple of weeks? WT? My interview's next week. Would it be ok just to present my docket/receipt?

Help.:ooh::confused:

spaniel77 18th Jan 2008 06:14

And more...

And there's three more next week, Mon-Wed. I'm going next week. Anyone else here going? :}

Mr Seatback 2 18th Jan 2008 22:50

Take your receipt along and show them at the registration for the seminar day. Everyone that went on Thursday (just gone) had receipts, and the QF staff knew about it, given the short amount of time for people to come prepared.

It doesn't say it on the registration email, but take your RSA and Senior First Aid Certificate + copies of each with you...it's not listed on the email, but they need it. If you don't have it, they give you a fax number to send it through...but I know a lot of people have been having trouble sending stuff through, so save yourself the drama and take everything + 2 copies of each along.

Salary for QF Cabin Crew Aust

I just read the EBA8...did I understand it correctly reading both part A and B..that the new recruits(QF Cabin Crew Aust P/l) are getting a combined rate of pay...all allowances etc in the base salary.?.which looks to me about half the pay rate for Qantas Airways Ld staff. Tell me Im wrong..:uhoh:

mrpaxing 19th Jan 2008 00:36

not correct

however you are on b scale. by the time you add travel allowances (tax free)/block hour time your pay will be much more. you are however on b scale. thats the deal for QCCA and its large expansion including the A380 (where current crew has been limited to 20%). but you also have the chance of promotion. :*

Mr Seatback 2 19th Jan 2008 06:54

Base salary is about $33K + block hour allowance of $2.60 + overnight allowances paid to you on arrival at your destination.

After tax pay every fortnight would be AT LEAST $1100, with no overtime, block hour payments, etc. Remember that training pay is lower for the first 6-7 weeks of training (about $940 a fortnight).

Hope this helps FYI.

Staff travel

Hey

does anyone know if qcca employees will receive staff travel? I have heard they will but i can't find it in the eba? Does anyone know if it will be for the employee and benerficeries? On all one world carriers or just qantas? group A or grp B? id90 or id50?????

Mr Seatback 2 19th Jan 2008 07:59

You won't find LEISURE staff travel in any FA EBA, as it's a discretionary privilege, not an entitlement.

My understanding (which isn't fact) is that QCCA crew will receive normal staff travel just like any QF employee. I don't imagine they'd deny QCCA crew access to this normally...it's one of the few perks of the job that keeps people in the company.

We'll find out for certain in a few weeks when the first few groups start training.

transcontinentalcc 19th Jan 2008 08:40

Quick question... has anyone been invited to a MEL based recruitment day or is it just SYD in the mix at the moment... and what are the rumoured training dates for the groups being interviewed at the moment?

I'm crew here with another airline and can't wait to hear something from QCCA!

Thanks in advance!

Mr Seatback 2 19th Jan 2008 08:46

They're doing external recruitment for SYD only at the moment, as I understand.

They have taken crew for positions in MEL from MAM and from Jetconnect in Auckland, but nothing external at this stage.

That of course could change - they need heaps of crew over the next 6 months, and beyond.
