G'day frigatebird

Us guys here in Toowoomba always look forward to our annual Warbird trip up to Maryborough for the weekend. Not sure who is coming yet but at least two Trojans at this point.

Cheers
Scott

Got this in the email today and thought it was pretty cool.

Interesting use of multiple exposures anyway.

Chuckles or Jaba

Pardon my ignorance, is that a Stinson in your last photo.

It is a magnificent looking bird that is for sure. Can I ask is it a replica or just beautifully restored and maitained.

I assume that you are referring to the big, round engined Cessna 195?

A very nicely restored example of the breed.

PS: I have posted these before but you might enjoy them!

adsyj its a Cessna 195.

Its the first thing Cessna designed after WW2 (hence the 1930s lines) and first flew in 1947 as the C190 - although this one is a 1952 model. The only difference between the 190 and 195 is the size of the engine. Originally this one was in fact built as a C190 (245hp Jacobs radial) but was later re engined with a 330hp Jacobs LM6b which makes it a C195B. Most C195s have 275hp some 300hp. The LM6B engine was what the US military bolted to the front of their 195s (designated LC-126). Yes the thing goes like a dog shot up da ar$e with 330hp.

This one belongs to a HKG based friend of mine - he has left it in SEQ for the last 6 mths or so as he slowly circumnavigates Oz and twists my arm to take it for a fly when I am in Brissy.

The cockpit

Its a ****ty job but someone has to do it.

Gorgeous, aren't they. Even Mrs.GB thinks so. Lusted after a bare metal 195 for years. When it does turn up, I'll be easy to spot. You'll just have to look for the guy with the black finger nails!

Err C-190's were built with Continental W-670's of 220hp.

I never considered a Cessna beautiful before
You are in serious need of radial therapy.
