Close enough!

The MD Helicopters MD 500 series is an American family of light utility civilian and military helicopters. The MD 500 was developed from the Hughes 500, a civilian version of the US Army's OH-6A Cayuse/Loach. The series currently includes the MD 500E, MD 520N, and MD 530F.

It is an AWESOME sounding machine, as there's no tail rotor, all you hear as it departs the circuit is a wicked "jet" sound of high powered air shooting out the tail boom!

Like a Harrier then. They've been around for yonks but no-one else is doing aircraft with those features -i.e. jumpjet, or no tail rotor, so what are the drawbacks then? Are they difficult to operate, no authority in certain conditions, or just too expensive to be widely available?

As I said, not really in to helo's, but I wonder, from an engineering standpoint, why all helo's arn't Notar?
The concept to me seems great.

One for Jaba to consider....
Slackie, does that Retard Vehicle actually start when you hit the "go" button?

If so, it's probably a bit sophisticated for Jaba!

Only folk who have NEVER bumped or left a master on can comment, or those who just want to take the p!$$ out of Jaba . I wondered how long it would take for an opportunity to come up.

Forkie was in town and wanted to get a bit more retarded, so out we go jump in, flash up all the pretty lights (during start they run off the emergency avionics bus & battery) and the master was on already............hmmm thats not good! And if that was not bad enough Mrs Jaba & I had a 5ish pm departure for Dalby. So with the lack of suitable jumper leads (which are now in the hangar) we were stuffed. Came 5pm and we jumped her off the Landcruiser, screwed all the baggage bulk head back in, and arrived at Dalby 20 min before last light, but with the weather, it was virtually last light. All fired up well this morning Sorry Forkie!

Slackie.....how are ya?... I know that bloke over there, I even produced a few components under its engine cowls! Wild paint job Apparently flying round the world and via Oshkosh this year I believe!

I happened to call Jaba whilst he was turning the key trying to turn over the IO540 with flat battery whilst the Dr. was sniggering in the background. The despair and disappointment in his voice as he tried to justify how the master were left on was rather amusing.

Trying out my new Helmet cam in a mate's Stearman on Saturday - for some reason less than half the clip loaded into youtube - as we peel off at the end we were headed for a 'precautionary search' at a private strip

Charles Russell's G.35
Charlie Russell was a great supporter of Beechcraft products. At one time he owned a Beech Model 17 Staggerwing (may have been replaced by the G35), and he later progressed from the Bonanza to a Baron. The family still operate a Baron to this day, I believe.

Arnold,

Benefit is climb rate and pretty smooth. A couple of knots slower. Better ground and stone clearance.

They make removing the lower cowl almost impossible.

Best option is the Hartzel Blended Airfoil 2 blade and for your machine that is the pick

.......prec search

I guess the B767 sim sessions do not include many of them so a good call to keep your hand in. You must be commended for your dilligence.

Pity they got chopped off, we could have learned a thing or two no doubt.

Vehicles

..great photo.

The catering vans sure have changed - but I would guess a lick of paint and that "honey-cart" is still going strong.....

Those stairs sure were handy in the middle of no-where.
