M*A*S*H Set

The former Fox Ranch is in an area now known as the Malibu Creek State Park, just outside of LA. The current google earth pictures of it are quite good you can see the two remaining vehicles which were burned out during the actual fire that went through the area during the filming of the final episode. The helipad can also be clearly seen although it's somewhat overgrown.
The movie version was also shot in Malibu Creek State Park, but it's been so long since I saw it I couldn't be sure if it's the same location as the TV series. The Golf Scenes from the movie were shot at the Malibu Country Club and the football game was shot at Griffith Park, LA
Here's a pic of the outdoor set location on google earth, if you re-orientate it so east is up it tends to look more familiar with the road coming into the camp at the top of the picture.

Is that the heli-pad in the lower south-eastern corner?

I didn't like the M*A*S*H movie, but love the series, I own the complete set and still love to watch it occasionally.

Here's an interesting pic that I took today. The flag is being towed by an aircraft, which was not visible at any time. I wonder if he was on an IFR plan?

That aircraft is impressively intact, considering someone's parked it in a tree.

More holiday snaps!

Current means of transport!

Present digs! The wing in this pic belongs to a brand spanking shiny new Virgin America Airbus 319. They have recently started up between San Francisco and San Diego for US$40 one way. The 02:00 pm flight we were on was FULL!

View out off the patio! (the one on the left departed this morning!)

San Diego, Gaslamp district, opposite the Convention Center. Maybe the Hilton or Marriot? Right next to Petco Park.

Nice part of the world!

Too close to the water to be the Gaslamp district i reckon, the shot from the 319 looks like it's, the Marriot Marina, but the patio shot looks to be closer to the USS Midway than that.

I suppose cart wheeling into the grass beside the runway could be construed as 'broke it'.

On his second takeoff I had programmed the sim to give him an engine failure at V1
