Chief, a MAC Douglas C124 Globemaster II (don't know the exact variant - could be a 'C', but they were in service in the US into the 70's).

Think you are correct, from what I heard (and I was not there) and jamsquat seems to know a bit more about it. And an opinion on it being a good thing for the 206.

Chief galah are you sifting through an old photo album? The little ones are easy but that big one has a funny growth on its nose!

Chief Galah,

It'd be a bit trickier if you changed the name of the picture, it comes up if you right click and go properties.

Were you based at Travis?

Regards,
BH.

I was going to accuse you of that. Thanks for owning up.
There is a small museum there with some interesting stuff
from another time.
No, I wasn't based there, just passing through courtesy of
Buck Brooksbank in '94. ATC's of the era will know what
that means.

G'day Chief,

The name Buck Brooksbank rings a distant bell, was he an RAAF airtrafficker by any chance?

Regards,
BH.

I hear that GAS pilots are continuously posting on this thread because if someone identifies their pic it counts as a positive fix!!

6969 Yeh, just flippin' thru the album over a quiet OKOCIM.
BH Buck was the then CEO of CAA*, ex Ansett I think. He instigated the Overseas Awareness Program for ATC's. Two weeks intensive familiarization of the US system in SFO. Other activities included visiting Lake Tahoe, Monterey, Pebble Beach, Sausilito and other centres of aviation. Ahem.

I dig the fence posts.
Cheers

Alas poor PQC - I knew her well.

The jab was observed on two wheels (not the right two!) for a fair distance before veering off the runway.

Ah, wigga, I thought you might recognise that shot.
Unfortunately it was a quick dump and run at the airport. I would like to have had a few hours to go exploring. Might have seen the odd dolphin or two.

Hard to believe the Jabiru prop did that much damage. The Jab looks fairly intact

Had a look at the offending Jabby today. It's AMAZINGLY intact!! Does need a new wing, though i'm told that damage happened BEFORE it got to the C206.

Also noticed a couple of the aircraft which normally park abeam the 206 have decided to try new parking spots!
