Christmas stories

Well there was the time I was voted to be Santa at the Wau Golf Club kiddies xmas party...I was the twotter pilot based there.

A certain well know yank helicopter pilot based in Wau volunteered to fly Santa onto the fairway right outside the clubhouse...except we hit power lines on short final and landed with the cables wrapped all around the Llama, the plexiglass smashed and the rotating beacon snapped off...blacked the whole of Wau out for the next three days...the 24th, 25th and 26th of December. Santa near shat himself

From memory 'Mrs Claus', watching from the ground, was none to impressed either...but the show went on for the kiddies.

Or the next year, when I had been transferred to Port Moresby, and we were having the kiddies xmas party in 'Dreamworld', the Talair compound.

A certain Talair pilot, who used to post the jobs section of the Friday Australian here on Pprune every week, was voted to be Santa...and turned up in his Santa suit after spending most of the day at the old Dero...****faced

All us mums and Dads held our collective breaths as he balanced each child
on his lap and gave out the pressies. He was fine until with my then 20 mth old balanced on his lap he proceeded to explain to her how "Fecking hot Shanta ish and how he might just dive in the fecking pool and cool off".

There seems to have been no long term ill effects Windy

Riding the Goat,

Can't really help you with what they are like to work for but if you want to know what sort of flying you will be doing the logging gives it away. They fly all over the SW gulf country (mostly flat and swampy compared to the rest of the country). Quite a number of logging camps with their own airstrips as well as the other more significant strips like Kerema, Kikori, Teredau etc.

The 208's seem to be flying the routes almost every day and have been doing so for a long time so I would say they have a good contract wrapped up there.

There has been a number of adds by PNG operators recently - if you want to give it ago there are some good oportunities available at the moment.

Good to see a little bit of interest in PNG jobs again

I would think that 2 crew IFR exposure would be good rather than trying to kill yerself as we did single pilot

Pre Pixie Partytime Info.

John Sundo, Self and a few others are looking at holding a Pixie Reunion on Thursday 01 November 2007 at Rydges Oasis Resort in Caloundra. Same place as the Talair Reunion of 2005!
So far, quite a number of past/present employees have indicated willingness to attend and as I am endeavouring to compile an email list to spread the word, I solicit any assistance that ex Pixies can provide.

P2-TNQ Queen Air

Trying to trace the current position of P2-TNQ, a B80-B65, ex RFDS.
Think it was operated by Milne Bay Air.
Anybody know her fate ?, Thanks

P2-TNQ ? It could be the Queen Air parked up down the South Eastern end of the apron at Mt Hagen. If it's the machine, which I think it is, it will never fly again.
