Regarding the armour being Ukrainian, the BBC was reporting earlier that streetfighting in a suburb of Kyiv was between Ukrainian forces and Russian 'saboteurs' who had infiltrated in captured Ukrainian armoured vehicles.

Romania intercepts Ukrainian Su-27

On Thursday 24 February 2022 around 06:15 hrs LT two Fortele Aeriene ale Romanei (FAR, Romanian Air Force) F-16 Fighting Falcons took off to clarify an air situation regarding an unauthorised flight in the northern part of Romania, which was approaching the Romanian airspace.

When the unknown aircraft was in Romanian airspace it was visually identified as a Ukrainian Air Force (VVS UKraine) Sukhoi Su-27. The F-16s escorted the fighter for immediate landing at Baza 95 Aeriana, Bacau in northern Romania around 07:05 hrs LT. After landing the Ukrainian military pilot turned himself in to the Romanian authorities and the legal measures required in these situations will be taken.

Romania strictly applied the national procedures and international rules applicable in such situations, proceeding to the interception and visual identification of the aircraft that entered the Romanian airspace.

According to a communiqué of the MoD: “The leadership of the Ministry of National Defense has taken all the necessary reaction measures, both those that belong directly to the institution and those of support for the other components of the national security system, according tot he insterinstitutional cooperation plans, elaborated in time”.

Russia acknowledges that Volodymyr Zelenskyy is the president of Ukraine, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Friday, TASS reported.

"Yes, of course, Zelenskyy is the president of Ukraine," the Kremlin spokesman said in response to a related question.

Peskov refused to say again what Moscow expects from the Ukrainian leader.

Looks like the Russians will have a street by street urban warfare fight on their hands for Kyiv…

Ukraine says 1,000 Russian troops killed today

Ukraine’s defence ministry has said that 1,000 Russian troops were killed today as Putin’s troops moved deeper into the capital.

“Russia has not suffered such a large number of casualties during this period of hostilities in the entire period of its existence in any of the armed conflicts it has started,” the defence ministry added in a statement on Twitter.

And if Berlin during ww2 is anything to go by it will take a couple of weeks at least.

Su-27. But was it Russian or Ukrainian?

Disappointing to see that one Ukrainian pilot bailing out to Romania and taking so much capable kit with him when so many others are laying down their lives.

Russian president Vladimir Putin told his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping in a call on Friday that Russia is willing to hold high-level talks with Ukraine, Chinese state television CCTVreported.

“The United States and Nato have long ignored Russia's reasonable security concerns, repeatedly reneged on their commitments, and continued to advance military deployment eastward, challenging Russia's strategic bottom line,” Mr Putin told Mr Xi.

“Russia is willing to conduct high-level negotiations with Ukraine.”

It comes as Russia’s invasion of Ukraine continues with Mr Putin’s troops advancing into Kyiv.
Losses getting serious? and they know that taking cities will take even more?

As we explained yesterday, since Moscow identified Ukrainian military airfields and aircraft on the ground as primary targets for its air strikes we assumed that the Su-27 pilot had to land in Romania because he probably had nowhere else to land.

A claim confirmed also by Intelsky on Twitter, that said:

‘Russia has destroyed 11 Ukrainian airfields and a naval base thus far, claimed Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov.

‘That’s explain why Ukrainian Su-27 fighter aircraft lands in a Romanian airbase.’
Nowhere to land and probably out of fuel.

The German quite surprised and a little annoyed replies "No, of course not."
The Frenchman replies "Give me the rifle, you'll see".

Hatred by the population you are trying to subdue (of you the enemy) is a powerful thing especially when right is on your side.

That IR sensor in centre front of the cockpit says Su-27.
