"The whole place is on fire".
Even Ruzzian propaganda isn't as deluded and insanely over-stated as that!
Theres some white vapour - which in my experience does not denote a petrochemical fire at all, and in any case even if it did is emanating fron maybe 2% of the area - not the 'whole place'.
I know we're all rooting fpr UKR but that sort of blinkered extremist fantasy is not helpful.

Black Smoke = Fire.........White Smoke means a new Pope, not that they would want to get shot of the current one, after his comments.

Ukraine says they hit the targets at Engles airbase, but do not specify what, that is the TU-95 and TU-160 base that is used to attack Ukraine.

As was expected by many Western national security analysts, after the re-election the Russian leader Vladimir Putin ordered to increase the number of troops in the Russian military forces. His defense minister Shoigu announced this presidential decree before the generals today. (Watch the video fragment.)
In particular, Russia will create 2 new ground armies (more than 80,000 total) and 30 additional military formations, including 16 brigades (from 32,000 to 128,000 troops total) and 14 divisions (from 128,000 to 560,000 total). Simple calculations show that the proposed boost in "cannon fodder" is a minimum of 240,000 and a maximum of 768,000.
Last year, the Ukrainian military intelligence warned that the expected number of the post-election Russian mobilization would be about 500,000. That's why former Commander-in-Chief General Valeriy Zaluzhny alarmed Volodymyr Zelensky's government about the urgent need to conscript at least 400,000 new Ukrainian soldiers to get ready.
Unfortunately, General Zaluzhny was discharged. The Ukrainian Parliament is still struggling with 4,000+ amendments to the new mobilization law which is nowhere near being adopted. So, new battle-ready Ukrainian recruits might not come to the theater in time. Instead, Kyiv sends signals to Europe about the possible deployment of NATO troops to Ukraine.

UKR forces are dropping mines behind Russian forces. Hint for the Russkies: go home and this problem goes away.

NATO Ally Could Command 60,000 Strong Force in Ukraine: General
French troops are ready for "the toughest engagements," the commander of the country's ground forces has said, as President Emmanuel Macron mulls an official military deployment to Ukraine despite repeated Russian threats of retaliation.
In an op-ed published by French daily Le Monde on Tuesday, General Pierre Schill—France's ground forces chief—said his forces are "ready" if called upon, and that a display of French military muscle would "deter any attack on France."…..

I do wonder how France will back up troops on the ground AirPower or artillery wise etc.
I somehow think a 5 mile deep heavily mined strip of no man’s land would be a better deterrent

And if significant NATO forces became directly involved on the ground and in the air, what is the end state to be?
How would Russia not see that as an existential threat and would it not play directly to Putin’s narrative?

You are accepting that Russia has the right to behave as if Ukraine is part of Russia when it is not. Putin's narrative has no validity outside Russia's borders.

Putin sees Ukraine as part of Russia and will act accordingly regardless of what we think so we have to address the realities of the situation. I asked the question because I find it hard visualise how the use of NATO forces can be used without there being a credible and sustainable end state. What are the options and what are the likely enemy responses?

"I am suffocating, goodbye" and "I'm burning and I'm trapped under rubble, forgive me for everything" - These are the messages and calls that families of dead and injured Kharkiv residents received after today's Russian attack on Kharkiv. As of now, it is known that 5 people have died, 9 were injured and 5 more are missing.
