You can conscript men off the street and rush them straight to the front - training officers takes longer….

Analysts report that Russian units are experiencing such a shortage of officers, due to the number of casualties, that privates are now commanding Companies that should be commanded by junior officers.

Conscripts are not sent to the front, nor even into theatre as far as I'm aware? Reservists yes, one of my Russian ex Boeing colleagues now flying something rather less sophisticated, and not out of choice.

Interestingly there is a rumour spreading throughout Moscow of a mass mobilisation this autumn, which has gained enough credence for my Russian friends not to return. Can't speak about the rest of the country.

Yes, but lets not forget the .303 L10 blanks with wooden projectiles for use in Bren guns - No BFA's then.

Another Russian column, accurate arty followed up by a cluster round to kill the crews and troops abandoning the vehicles.

Armour and a Bradley supporting Ukrainian troops that have been hit and have taken wounded, it looks like the tank is putting out smoke shells as cover, while the Bradley is neutralising the buildings.

It seems the strikes on bridges is already having effects on Russian logistics, especially fuel.

This happened a lot in 2022 and Putin later said that mistakes had to be corrected. AFAIK conscripts are not even supposed to serve abroad and some attribute Putin's "annexation" of four Ukrainian oblasts as a trick to bypass this law i.e. that is Russia so they can be sent to fight there. Since, however, so many troops complain of no food, no pay, not being released after their term of service, who can believe that the military would bother about such frivolities.

Recent reports have highlighted that the conscription process is now electronic and integrated into the state system, so that anyone not answering the draft call automatically loses all rights to state services ( maybe also things like access to banks ) i.e. becomes a non-person. How could that be circumvented ?

I don't think the tank is firing: the blast from the gun would severely injure/kill the troops on the ground just 10 yards or so in front of the tank. I have to add that the two soldiers on the track showed a lot of confidence in the Bradley driver who was reversing at a decent speed, in a dust-cloud, by not moving to the left. I certainly reckon I would have - just as a precautionary measure.

Long range Scalps have been handed over.... I wonder how long until a certain bridge has a visit.

"Ukraine has made a request to the US regarding JASSM cruise missiles for F-16s, which can help liberate Crimea", - Forbes The fact is that the Storm Shadow/SCALP missiles, which have already been transferred to Ukraine, are incompatible with the F-16, but JASSM can be used.

US embassy is telling American citizens to leave Belarus immediately

Greece to join the training of F-16 pilots with Denmark and The Netherlands, The US has stated that if training falls behind they will also join to take up the slack.

I don't get this obsession about F-16, unless it's to plunder american money.
F-16 needs 10 men to maintain, with years of training. Gripen needs two, with a emphasis on master and new apprentice.
F-16 needs high quality runways, which Ukraine lacks, and the ones that have them the ruskis can bomb anyway. Gripen can take off and land on highways.
Gripen was designed for a russian invasion, regardless what we can say about the swedes being previously woke they know their tech in this field.
Gripen has the latest radar and the americans have only agreed to allow export mid life f-16 upgrade, up to par with the latest mig-29 and su-35 radar and other tech. What's that gonna do? Another wunderwaffe for nafo twitter and others to masturbate over?

Sweden needs real world experience to sell it's saab gripens after a few cancelled orders.

Isn't it obvious? I fail to see the arguments for the f-16 over specifically designed european tech in this scenario where sweden has said they can spare 12-16 now.

One problem might be the Swedes initially said they didn't have enough spare to provide.
