Ukraine War Thread Part 2
Ukrainian engineers have developed special shoe overlays to protect the lives of sappers working on demining operations
A rough day for the Ukrainians - it's on Reddit, so not all may be able to view this. This is the same contact from a few days ago, which was covered in this thread, where a solo Russian tank charged at the Ukrainian advance, just taken from a different angle.

"The US has approved sending F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine from Denmark and the Netherlands to protect against Russian invaders as soon as pilot training is completed", — Reuters
Ukraine will receive F-16 aircraft as soon as the training of Ukrainian pilots is completed.
This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba.
"I think that the Ukrainian pilots will return from the training, and the planes with them too. Maybe they won't arrive directly in the cockpits, but it will be a synchronized process," –– said Kuleba.

It all depends on what they arm the F16’s with, it’s alright giving them the jets but without weaponry to take on the Russian airforce on an equal or better footing, they are simply no better than what they have.
I will be interested to see the length of the training with the French saying they could train pilots on the mirages in a few months.
One of a little to late imho.
They could have trained them months ago, so when the Jets were ready they could have gone straight into service

Usual caveats:
"Ukrainian naval drones have just attacked 2 vessels of the Russian Navy, Pytlivyy & Vasily Bykov.
Vasily Bykov was the vessel that attacked the Turkish dry cargo ship Sukru Okan near the Turkish coast a few days ago.
The Russians claim the vessels were not damaged."

So Putin has cleared it to sell oil abroad for foreign currency to then buy Rubles to prop up the Russian currency, rather than sell it at home.
Surely this will start to collapse the infrastructure of the country?
One result?

Nutloose, reference the Ruble - accepting non-convertible currencies has been one of the main causes of the collapse of the currency….

Russia risks war with NATO in Black Sea, former top commander in Europe warns
Kyiv’s allies may have to establish a shipping corridor after the collapse of the U.N. grain deal, Admiral James Stavridis says.
…."Russia's actions in the international waters of the Black Sea create a real risk of escalating this to a war at sea between NATO and the Russian Federation," said Stavridis.
NATO, he went on, "is not going to provide all the weapons and money for Ukraine, only to watch Russia strangle their economy with an illegal blockade”.…..
"If Russia starts seizing vessels or seeks to scare them away, I think it likely NATO will respond by supporting a humanitarian corridor for shipping," Stavridis said.
The alliance could protect vessels going to and from the Ukrainian port of Odesa "with NATO combat aircraft overhead and possibly NATO warships in escort." ….

The 🇷🇺 Krasny Oktyabr steel plant in Volgograd is on fire this morning.
The plant has orders from 2013 to produce pressure reactor containers for Russian submarines and from 2012 to produce 132 x T-14 Armata MBTs.
They have not completed either of these orders.
This fire will cause significant setbacks for producing Russian military equipment.

Ukraine desperate for help clearing mines, says defence minister

I reckon, the extend of mining was underestimated. Making it the biggest obstacle.
Btw how many Ka-52s are left?

The occupiers have serious problems: Humenyuk told in what mode the Crimean Bridge operates after the latest strikes
"In view of the situation with smoke, the bridge is set for ventilation. That is why it sometimes closes and sometimes opens and does not work at full capacity. Some car lanes still function, but in a limited mode and exclusively for passenger transport. The railway operates according to a special mode , is also very limited," Nataliya Gumenyuk, spokeswoman for the "Pivden" OK, reported
The most powerful bridge artery of the Crimean bridge currently cannot provide full-fledged logistics and supplies to the Russian army, as well as other "sick" bridges, such as Chongarsky and Genichesky.

I am surprised that they still fly at such altitude and get knocked out rather easily. I wonder if they've just lost situational awareness and didn't know that enemy lines are so close or they are simply unable to learn and thus pay ultimate price for this.
