Not a caption either - visited the Mosquito Aircraft Museum a coupe of weeks back - amazed how small the cross section of the Comet is/was - reminded me of Concorde rather than say a 737 -

Come on, people, get a grip! It's red white and blue, our national colours. And that pole thingy poking out of the top of the fuselage seems to have a crown on top of it.

Where's our national pride?

Again, not a caption but it reminds me of the time in Gan when we played the VOG card which trumped the TOG (or did they only have AOG?) card while we borrowed their battery.

"No problem - just make sure you suck up his hat as well so he can look dignified when you let him out."

I got the idea from the joke about putting a tie on a turtle. You blow the hot air in, and catch the crew as they come out.

You know when Gen Office told me I was posted to RAFGan, I thought they said Afghan. Don't think we've got a base there, or ever likely to.

Caption.

"Aller kinder lieben rot !" (all children love red !).

(said by salesgirl in Cologne toyshop when small daughter made bee-line for red-seated tricycle).

Blame the Post Office, because it carried mail they insisted it was red, we didn't have enough to finish it off.

To provide extra strength, the front and rear sections of the fuselage are each milled from a single ingot of jam doughnut.
