Retirement age is 65 for all pilots. There is only a rule about two over-65s not being rostered together. If you have resigned and want to come back you are welcome to do so provided you left on good terms. If you’ve been away for more than a year you need to do the entire online application and interview again. If it’s less than a year no interview required. QR doesn’t hold a grudge like some airlines who don’t take pilots back. In fact I personally know a pilot who joined and resigned QR three times. Upgrade times currently running at three years as stated. |

Nope! upgrade from second officer to first officer about 2/3 years then another 4/5 to Captain according to performance. In other words when you join you get 2 stripes and maybe 4 stripes 7 years later. 120 rule means combined age in flight deck cannot exceed this. If you left 2 years ago expect to go through whole process again.

Thank you for ur reply is there a website with the full details about rejoing Qatar Airways, such how to apply ? What do we have to do ......? |
The three year upgrade time is obviously from experienced Direct Entry F/O to Capt. Upgrade tIme from S/O to Capt is not even worth discussing. Reality check, gents. |

Link itself for application is what You get from recruitment department once someone recommend you for it. There are several ways of getting recommended, by being a friend or family from someone who is in the company, by being part of QR MPL program or by attending Qatar Aeronautical College.

Hi folks
I asked the same question at the EK thread, and I`d like to listen about QR too. Brazilian, current ERJ 190 FO, almost 3000 hours on type, 4000 total, and from September/august flying an A320 in the same airline I work today. A320 Capt salary in my airline is about 6500USD based on todays currency. I really enjoy living in my country despite the problems, but I`m afraid I might feel like I've failed on my achievements as a professional pilot if I do not fly a wide body jet as a captain during my entire career. And I really don't believe I will do so someday in Brazil. I'd rather for a commuting contract, but also based on my experience, I know I couldn't get any contract that would be beneficial for me considering that those contracts hardly offer fast upgrade and they are all based on Far East, what makes things even more complicated. So, today, I only consider moving to the Middle East. What do you think about that? Should I apply to QR after I get about 500h on the A320? Abraço! P.S.: For all considering "commuting", remember: There's NO commuting contract. You can always bid for days off among with your leave (42 days/year that can be split in blocks of 6/12/18/... days), so you can get more time to go VISIT your home country. But it's at your own risk. |
Any idea about how many time are the FOs in holding pool after the Assestment in Doha. I mean is it same time than SO? cheers |
I know a 320 type rated FO aplicant who has been in the pool for more than 9 months. OW |

hi, does that mean hold pool is now being extended for more than 12 months? how long can they extend the same? |
I think it depends on your rating and flight hours. For a nontype boeing first officer it is more than a year I think. I don't know the airbus.
