The job advert for Boeing Type Rated First Officer states a minimum requirement of 500 hours on 737NG. Are they flexible with experience 737CL with EFIS?

Obbie 10th Jan 2018 19:03

No, the minimum is the minimum.

Banana Joe 10th Jan 2018 20:17

Alright, I was expecting that even though the TR is B737 300-900 and received NG difference training.

No way! House allowance is part of the package, and actually the company is plenty of empty accommodations. The queue to leave company accommodation is more than a year actually.
There is no way to join without pass through a company accommodation...

What?? ALL long-haul?
Smallest plane on EK fleet is B772(WB).
How do you think the EK fly to India/Pakistan/Oman/Saudi/Bahrain/Kuwait?
Trust me, there are a LOT of short flights on 777 at EK[and QR also, less short flights now (BAH-00:25hs, DXB-00:50hs, DMM 01:00hs)thanks the blockade!]
Double-Sectors are common also!. 4 sectors in a WB a day, it is tough!

The question of all questions. On their website they only have Type rated positions posted. Are they hiring non type rated folks or not?

Questions questions....

Hello All,

I’m in the application process and I have 4 questions should anyone be able to assist:

1. Regarding the education allowance, to what age and school level will QR pay this? Is it just to the end of High School, does it cover University or is it to a certain age regardless?

2. It appears that they offer the position, you then move to Doha, and then they do the Medical. Is the Medical similar to FAA or EASA? Are there maximum uncorrected eyesight limits and what is the extra blood test screening for? I’d hate to resign my job and find myself getting rejected for not being Astronaut fit.

3. I’m using an Electronic Logbook (Safelog). Do they want me to print the whole logbook for the interview/assessment process? What have other people done in the past? My current organisation doesn't stamp personal logbooks. Any suggestions there?

4. What do FAA Licence Holders present as their certificate for English Language Proficiency?

I’d appreciate any guidance, thanks.

I use Logten Pro, I have an older version which works well. Every time I need to present it, I'll make sure is updated and insert the pages in the binder. They usually stamp it for me. While back, I recall reading Logten pro was the only electronic logbook approved by Qatar Airways.

Regarding the allowance, They will cover up to the age of 21. I have a daughter who studies down under, so that won't be an issue. Should you have any questions, feel free to PM.

Best of luck

casablanca 28th Feb 2018 10:42

There was a rumor floating around that only Logbook pro was allowed.... was a misinterpretation.
ELECTRONIC LOGBOOKS NEED TO BE PRINTED.... and every page stamped Vs. a traditional logbook only last 2 pages..... this is a QCAA requirement for license issuing.
FAA license says English proficient so will be granted level 4 icao.. then in year or two you will need to be tested.
It is hard to get a stamp as most airlines in USA don’t do that. But they may give you a letter or sign logbook saying you have worked here since 2004 as Capt on xxx, in good standing etc... get that notarized and have notary stamp everything or something creative..,.. as FAA will not stamp anything.. any and all record verification request will be sent directly between Qcaa/Faa

BDD 28th Feb 2018 10:44

I use safe log and it's ok, but you do have to print it out.
I'm from the USA so I did not have any stamps in my log book so I
printed it out and had it notarized in the US and it worked ok.

Good luck with everything!!

I have just completed the online psychometric tests. How long does it usually take to receive a feedback from QR?
Thanks
