Damn...

Almost the same Nickname kkkkkkk...

and probably flying to the same company !

All the best :ok:

Sallytraffic 24th Feb 2016 18:53

Rated Boeing FO position, I fly the 737 also.

I have a few mates who did selection last year, they all fly Boeing however a few did their check on the 320 and a couple got lucky and were in the 78.

Anyone know how long things are taking to progress at the moment, as in date of joining after passing selection? Are guys swimming for a long time or has the wait gone down?

Thanks

737SFP 24th Feb 2016 21:18

Applying with Frozen ATPL

Guys I require your advise...

If I go ahead and apply online for the FO position with a frozen ATPL would that be detrimental in my chance of getting an interview if I have enough hours on the Airbus?

Also can I ammend my online application from a frozen ATPL(CPL) to an ATPL when I get the ATPL license in a couple of months?

Black Pudding 25th Feb 2016 17:19

captaintoocool

Do you have the requirements to apply now. If so, simply apply and stop wasting time.

captaintoocool 26th Feb 2016 07:02

Thanks Black Pudding!

I'm leaning towards that.

But, would applying with a frozen ATPL be detrimental where I am chosen to operate a particular aircraft (e.g. A320) and not the other (e.g A330, A350)? (Where I have the hours on the wide body)

Slash:

Qatar Airways provide temporary accomodation when you join however you can request permanent accomodation if you like or choose to take the allowance to chose something you like.

A320CaptDav:

The policy is upgrade on the same fleet. I heard rumours of uprgade on other fleets but usually the company prefers to spare the TR cost in such case.

Captaintoocool:

As long as you have the hours you'll be fine it won't be detrimental to you.

I don't know if you can't amend your online application but even if you get your practical ATPL meanwhile you can inform your joining coordinator that you have an ATPL license when joining the company they are very efficient so relax. ;)

Just applied for DEC Boeing. I see the position has been placed on hold. Anyone else apply recently and get the same response? Anyone with info on whether this is expected to be a lengthy hold period?

jklm05 26th Feb 2016 15:38

Has anyone, especially F/O's, recently been invited for an interview? If so, kindly pm me.
Also, approximately how long is it taking to hear back for an interview date from the time one applies?
And lastly, what fleet can be expected? I am applying for first officer airbus position as I am currently flying the A320 with 1500 odd hours on it.
Thanks alot. Appreciate the info.

School Fee's

Does anyone know if the 120,000 qar is PER child?

Thanks

gatbusdriver 26th Feb 2016 20:00

No. Total allowed split between a maximum of 3 children.

Sallytraffic 26th Feb 2016 20:13

Thanks for the response.... Don't suppose you know if the hold pool / training is moving a bit now do you?

320goat 26th Feb 2016 21:27

I have no idea.........I just fly the line.

beetlebum 26th Feb 2016 22:12

Are any A320 DECs being recruited directly on the A330?

Rigid Body 28th Feb 2016 08:54

Hi guys, my very first post and thanks to the informative discussion. Just a few questions I would appreciate your input:-

1-company provided accommodation
- any examples of addresses that one could expect upon joining as an FO (just wanted to see what it's like)?
2- Fleet allocation
-from the experiences of those who have recently joined, is this purely as per the need on the date of joining or is any consideration placed on type experience and wide/narrow body time? (Currently 330 rated)
3- excluding accommodation allowance would anyone care to give an average all up figure of the monthly package for a new FO? (Considering average block hours per month)
4- rosters
- I know 320 drivers would be doing lots of short hops around, notwithstanding this fact, are rosters built with reasonable rest/layovers or pretty much on the minimum legal side of things?
5-company culture
- do crew members work cohesively or is it pretty much an "us verses them" mentality (cockpit and cabin), and does this extend to other non flying staff?

Sorry to bombard you guys with a long list of (probably already answered elsewhere) questions but your reply is highly appreciated.

Happy landings
RB

Hello there,

Some of you asked about the sim ride during the assessment.
It goes randomly. I am also a boeing guy but I did my simulator on the 320.
Depends which sim is available.

1. Company accommodations are all over the city. Hard to guess where they will asign you. Sometimes there is not enough places available so you might expect to get a place for a month. Then you will need to find your own place. The housing allowance for FO's is 13.000QAR per month which is sufficient for you. There are nice apartments for that price.
2. Usually if you have recent Boeing experience you will be placed on 777/787. Same goes for Airbus. However lots of guys coming from 320 are placed on 330.
3.Excluding housing allowance expect around 29.000-33.000 QAR per month.
4.Yes, the rosters are reasonable. Also the bidding system works well. You can choose with destinations you want to fly to.
5.The company atmosphere is generally good. There is nothing like us versus them. Most people are nice and friendly.

Cheers
