EK announced ovr 3 years ago that they will hire DEC's and that the minimum time for an upgrade is 3 years, they even said it will take longer than 3 years as the airline grows, so please stop crying girls.

EK is a s**t company to work for and I am on my way out like so many, EK changes the contract anytime they want and the get away with it in a country with almost no law and no protection of expats, but I can't stand this FO's who are here for 3 days and complain about DEC's, everybody knew about it and but they still joined, so don't expect any kind words.

Read my other posts.... have never expected anything other than do my time, have never whinged as you so elloquently put it and actually enjoy my job. In fact am over 3yrs and have enjoyed the time getting there.

The issue here was the guys "out of seniority" that are bypassing the full timers.... do you think that you would remain all warm and fuzzy with guys that have been here 18 months less getting confirmed course dates? I am talking about the guys behind on seniority not those higher. Haven't there been a million posts that have said the only fair way is when your due it is offered based on your seniority? Now if you happen to be on the bus....you have to re-qualify again... I appeal to that over developed sense of consideration that you display to just take a moment and understand....it's not a whinge.... it's a demoralising concern....agree??

Interview emirates

I just came back from Dubai. Great company and great people running the show. For me the written test was very easy, no tricky questions and basic general aviation knowledge questions. For the sim part you are going to get all the tools you need to succeed from the training capt (follow the directions and be yourself). youll be evaluated on your basic flying skills, navigation skills and CRM. During your sim session BRIEF, BRIEF, BRIEF. If you have any significant deviation take the appropiate action. For the interview have some of your stories ready and relax. It is a two way street, the want to see if you fit in their organization and you should see if that is what you want for your career and your family, remember that it si going to be a least a 3 year commitment since youll tied to the company by the bond (36.000us)
The interview is actually fun, you get to meet people from all over the world and you get to see a very different way of life, it is NOT for everybody but take it as a cultural experience.

I have to wait 4 weeks for their response, I hope I get the call from Emirates. Dubai is a great city but far from perfect, traffic is a nightmare and remember there is a construction going on everywhere in the city.

Only 3 out of 8 made it to the end in my group. Check the housing on www.siliconoasis.net

Good luck and enjoy UAE.

You say the Co is alright (very important), I say (you didn't say it) housing is better than elsewhere (???).
Other than what you say about the night flying and the big machines what else sucks in a mega-fast growing (otherwise called world's largest construction site)?
I think it's important for one:
1. to feel reasonably(?) good at work, (what is reasonable for many? You can make it...)
2. to do a bit of saving rather than wasting your earnings in taxes and social security elsewhere that you never see again in many cases if you don't do your own,
3. to avoid shopping malls. 1 week visit to the a big supermarket and another visit to you friendly local convenience cold store,
4. to feel go at home,
5. to have your family with you if you have one,
6. to have (fast) a companion, so you won't be lonely,
7. to have the spouse working and helping the expenses where possible,
8. kids in school, etc..
9. a family car and another for the road to/from EK, etc.., always saving...
Believe me, there are worse places around. EK still has in the Gulf and Middle East aviation world the best package. The Gulf or the Middle East is not what used to be and it will never be it again.
As long as people continue to apply for these jobs, so meeting the demand, the package will not change. The rest of the story we know and the bean counters don't care. Take it easy.

Hey guys
Just wanted to say that whatever fractional said must be true.
I had a buddy of mine that went for the EK interview and Boy did he ask some
**## type of questions to the HR,Interviewers.
1,Like If as you claim this a Fantastic airline of the future then why do you have a record nr of pilots leaving
2,How do explain Capt leaving for a F/O job in Europe?
3,Your days off is one of the worst in the big airlines
And he went on to have a real go at the stupied anws they gave
Needless to say he was not impressed and they with him.
But EK is not for everyone and as time goes on there are not many that fit into EKs plans ,that have half a brain.

I have a lot of friends very happy at EK, so who is wrong?. I loved the place and what I saw. It is my personal point fo view.
There is not a perfect world, stable job, nice housing and great place to take your family. I really don't care what everybody else is doing and thats is why I send the application to Emirates.

The loading of the quiz during the selection process is about 10%. Do not overheat your brain on the quiz - rather have a good look around you and decide if you want to live in the dessert!

The EK selection process has one aim and one aim only - CAN THIS INDIVIDUAL LIVE IN THE DESSERT?

If you are married then the question becomes - CAN THIS INDIVIDUAL'S WIFE LIVE IN THE DESSERT?

THAT IS WHAT IT IS ALL ABOUT MY FRIEND!

What kind of new Tech questions are you guys talking about? Harder or easier. Friend of mine did the interview 2 weeks ago and the questions were as advertised.
Any other source to prep for other that ACE and handling the big jet.....

I also heard that the questions have changed. If anyone has any idea where to study for the Technical Quiz, could you please also PM me. I have been reading "Ace...", but someone returning from his interview said, not to even bother reading that book, because the questions came from somewhere else....

Any info will help. Thank you in advance

Boeing

I'd carry out standard interview prep i.e. 'Who am I, What have I done, What scenarios can I use' rather than worry about the tech quiz. If you do a good sim and a good assessment then the tech quiz will be irrelevant to your chances of success.

Schnowzer

I have copied the latest quiz though in case you have time to revise.

Schnowzer, not only is that spot on, but if you change the answer from
I don't care I just want to work for EK
to
I don't care I just want to work for management
you have a whole new application for your questionnaire
