Hi everybody ,

I failed my interview with ek last december and they said to me i can reapply in 2 year .
I met several people who failed at the first time , who they have been refused by Ek to be re assess after the banned period.
Can I expect to experience the same thing????
Any info is more than welcome

Does anyone know if you can still apply if you are within 500 hours of the requirements?

You can - but if you are successful at interview and are offered a job you will be expected to complete those hours whilst working your notice with your present airline.

Pilotrob,

PSP could be Pre-selection Programme.

Shortlisted is good, remember that!

Yancharlie,
I really hate to tell you, but no, they will not consider Dash 8 time. FedEx, UPS, and other heavy carriers (including NWA at the time, Delta, Hawaiian, Continetal, United etc) will consider it, but the all mighty Aus Pilots here don't. (Yeah, I've had a beer). Sorry Mates. Lol. . . Seriously though, no, turboprop time is unfortunately not considered here even though you have more experience in LVO and cold weather ops than most pilots here. Most turbo guys are more experienced in weather than the none turbo guys here but that doesn't matter. What matters is if you can engage the autopilot at 500' on takeoff and disconnect at 500' on landing. That makes you a "SUPER" pilot. Lol. . .

Fred can you explain how its AUS pilots fault that Turbo prop time is not allowed? Can you also explain why LVO/cold weather flying is also so important for flying in the Middle East? or were you having a dig at American Dash 8s and ATRs crashing when they ice up?

Could someone post the latest version of the pilot briefing document. I have version 25, but there must be a version 26 with the new salary and education allowance etc.

Question

Hi guys,

first of all thank you all for the precious information in this thread!

Since I received a list with possible interviews I can choose, I was wondering how many days you really need. I know that the assessment is 4 days (hopefully), but when does Emirates schedule your flight to DXB and when back home? So how many days did you guys plan to be off duty? Five days or even six?

I didn't find anything about that in this thread and would appreciate any experience.

THX a lot

They arrange your arrival one day before the selection process, and depart a day after you finish the medicals. Unless your destination has an evening flight, you can request to depart the same 4th day.

In the unlucky case of failing the first day, you have to arrange your departure on the second day, since the hotel will be covered only up to that night. (You can stay til the original departure date, but the hotel will be at your expense).

Cheers

Deteriorated conditions (outside contract)

On page 100 of this thread there was a post about conditions and terms, i.e. benefits that wasn't regulated by the contract, that has been taken away as of the financial crisis 2008.
Could anyone tell what these benefits were?

What is the status of "temporary housing" nowadays? Can you still expect to sit in the shantytown for 6 months?

Fleet; what fleet sees the strongest growth, where are new joiners put?

Thanks,
Rookie

I think it's rather random. You're most likely to get the 777, a few will get the A310 or A330.
[edit - I mean the sim]

If you get through the selection process they will ask you what your preference is Boeing or Airbus (777 or A330). Ultimately though it's the company's call which aircraft they assign to you (im sure it depends on lots of factors)

Stealthpilot is on the money.

A310 is a possibility if you applied five years ago and you were caught in a time warp. If not, then don't worry about it! It's Bus or Boeing.
