For Emirates it is something like 700 pilots in the next 18 months- they hired about 450 in the last 12 so there is no sign of the recruitment slowing down. Aircraft will be coming long after next summer so don't worry, there will still be plenty of jobs around.

Why is everybody in such a hurry these days?

ATPL Test

Hi!

I have some thoughts about the ATPL Test. Is it a written exam or is it multiple choice? Can someone share some performance questions?

Thank you and have a nice summer!

Hey guys,
I'm new to Pprune, Would appreciate if you guys can help me on this.
I'm from India & flying as a F/o for a commercial airline here.
I have a FAA CPL and around 3500 hrs on B737. I plan to join Emirates and hence thinking of getting my FAA ATPL as it relatively easier than getting my DGCA ATPL. But before I do so i would like to know if Indian flying exerience
and FAA ATPL is acceptable. Thanks for your help.

Anyone done the 1-day interview assesment outside of Dubai?

We frequently conduct a one day pre-selection programme that includes:

1. A brief interview
2. Psychometric testing
3. Assessments on Advance Compass Testing

I found software for #2 and #3. Anyone know what the brief interview was like? Just simple get-to-know-you questions? Was it more technicaly questions? Was it HR? I'm looking for input from someone who did the one-day selection program.

Thanks!

Hi Flyer, I did it in Manchester, they told me it was the last screening in Europe this year. It was a very normal and short interview, not even 10 minutes. Questions like Why Emirates, tell me about your flying career, tell me a challenging situation on board and notice period. It was onetoone interview, very relaxed. The other 2 parts, including advanced compass tes, prepare it with sky tests. That was it.

I wish you good luck.

Hi I'm new to forum and just wondered about any age limits for EK. Time has flown! and I find myself as 51 yr old A320 F/O with Asian carrier. Lots of hours but still long time to command course with current airline. Dubai would probably suit for remainder of career but wondered if EK would realistically consider me. Thanks

Thank you Sir! I am in the US, and these one-day interviews are in Atlanta at the end of July. I'm a CRJ-200 driver, and got an email invite. Maybe they have finally done away with the 30-ton rule.

If you're not a current commander, then 48 years old is maximum to join EK.

I just got invited to a pre-selection interview in atlanta at the end of July. I'm out of the country until Aug. with my current employer. Does anyone know if you are able to request another month or is it those times or never? Also if anyone has a contact # or email for Emirates?

He states that he is a 51 yr old F/O. If you're a current skipper then I believe that 52 is the maximum age on joining - not 53!

And to reiterate - 48 is max age for current F/Os

Help me please guys

Hey guys, I Just joined 2 hrs back and couldn't resist asking two question if u ppl help me.
I have applied in emirates twice till now. First time around an year back with 2100 hrs b737ng current on type, and last on 2700 hrs on type still current. First time they blatantly refused my application saying I don't meet minimum requirements (jet hrs and ATPL), but this time, around 5 days back, i learnt that my application status shows "shortlisted" though I still don't hold an ATPL and they know it thru' my application.

Q. 1 Now I can't help wondering that how can I get shortlisted when, as per their website and a lot of posts here on this thread clearly mention that ATPL is MANDATORY.
Q. 2 Having said that, how long can I expect for any correspondence from them?

Interview Process

Hey guys am sure this question has been asked a million times over in this forum so i reckon i will make it a million 1. Has any one gone through the interview process lately?? If so what material did you use to prepare. You can PM me or post it here for every one else who needs the same info.

PS: i know i will get a lot of lashing out for not reading the threads posted earlier. I read them half way and realised i dont want to have a pre conceived idea about EK good or bad i want to be objective about the whole experience and make a decision purely based on what i think is good for me and my family. Thank you all and keep the blue side up

Hey guys, first post here, but I've been doing a lot of reading the past few days! *whew* that's a lot of information in the last...hundred pages or so! Anyway, I've gotten an email inviting me to their "pre-selection program" in ATL and emailed back about a week ago with my preferred date. I still haven't heard anything back confirming the date. Is this normal with their HR department or should I send another email just to make sure?

btw, thanks for all the informative posts!

For those who have interviewed and done the computerized testing,

Math Test - is each individual question timed? Or is the overall test timed, allowing you whatever time you want per problem?

How many math questions? 24 in 20 minutes?

Aircraft/RMI Position test - Is this test question-limited or time-limited. By that, I mean is it unlimited questions to get done in a limited of amount of time, judged by accuracy, or is it a specific number of questions that are limited by time?

ATP test is 30 questions, and it is multiple choice? How many other of the computerized tests are multiple choice?

Is there an aicraft stick/rudder excercise? If so, do we have to use a computer keyboard, or do they provide a joystick and rudder pedals?

Thank you.

From what I've read, but maybe someone who's actually taken the test can correct me if I'm wrong:

-The math test is timed at 20 minutes with 24 questions. Do as many as you can within that time frame.

-The RMI test is 20 minutes long and as many as you can do within that time frame.

-The ATP test is multiple choice with three choices and from what I read, is the only multiple choice (unless you count the RMI test where you have to choose the correct depiction)

-There is an aircraft stick and rudder portion of the test and they do use a standard PC joystick with a PC rudder controller.

Hi guys, I'll join in few months on the airbus fleet and I already have some headaches, with all the info/papers I received from EK...but its good headaches, much better ones than when I was study for the interview!

I have, 2 questions ;

1) Regarding staff travel, we are eligible to ID50 from the DOJ (1st day of the induction), how does that work, I cannot find accurate answsers on the FAQ's doc that sent me. ID50 works as ID90 ?stby (obviously) upgradble to J class? and what its the price, 50% of a normal ticket? spouce are eligible for them on DOJ as well?

2)About residence visa for my wife, we expect to come together on the same flight, and transfert her tourist visa into a resident one after I get mine. How much it cost?is that easy to do? ek doesn't pay it, in that case and according to what I've heard, they do not really like that..any info?

Many thanks

Cheers
