If you read the new CEos profile u can see what all he has been upto !!!Impressive tho !!!Lets see what happens in a week .It will take time for the new chap to settle down also and get used to the working environment and his team...flights taking off mid April.

What is happening at Rak in the last few weeks? I see nothing new posted with ppruner's!

Is the company hiring? Flight Training? Flying routes?

Has the management stabilized with the current group or are more people leaving?

My experience includes Aztec operations, from a small grass field somewhere in Eouthern England.

I have also been to Bombay.

Do I need any more qualifications....

The original AOC, which the GCAA sat on for about a year, was a Hamra Air AOC based on a Hawker 800 and a Seneca (I believe). The rumours network can tell that this AOC has seen a name-change and RAK Airways is holding the AOC.

But that did not bring the 757 in the air. Or did it

RAK Airways is waiting for an air operating certificate that would allow it to launch flights by mid-April 2007, Emirates Today reported. The airline will spend $150m leasing aircraft and upgrading the local airport. It has leased two Boeing 757s but has not yet revealed its launch destination. The carrier has applied for landing rights in India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Iran, the CIS and Gulf countries.

Do you imagine the revolving doors of senior management and CEO positions will be looked upon with much favor when the political powers begin decisions on whether or not to grant landing rights to these fellows?

I would hasten to add a bit more dismal news that the name change of the AOC from Hamra to Rak airways is far from the bushel of inspections these lads will soon undergo to obtain further certifications to allow the 757 off the ground. What type of training programme have they? What about the maintenence outfit? What miracles or mystical powers does this cement CEO have to race past such formidable hurdles to launch in April? Alas, what are they smoking and where can I get some?

RAK's circut training was conducted, just before the weather hit. There appeared to be one or two minor problems, but she looks good, great paint job, but I did prefer the previous tail, the current looks, OK, but not great.

Then the Amiri 747 called in on a training detail.

A hawk, called in with a low pass.

A G5 got stuck on the apron with a tow truck on its nose.

All in all a normal day in RAK, 'O' and ATC refused permission for a visitor to land.

Not forgetting the severe weather.

The reason it's all gone quiet is that it's increasingly obvious that it's a joke outfit and no decent pilot would be interested. Anyone holding their breath for this latest mid-April deadline to start operations will go blue in the face, as it will be missed like every other deadline announced by them. No doubt followed by another round of blood letting in the senior management. Maybe running an airline is different to running a ceramic/cement factory ??

Many companies are run by people who are not specialists in that business.

A good manager, manages, and directs, takes heed of all input and decides.

Delegation is perhaps the most important skill of any manager.
The ability to listen as well as talk, helps.

So don't knock the CEO who is not in that line of business.

However to loose 3 CEO's could be described as careless.

After ten pages of interesting posts this thread has taken a steep dive to nothing.

Ok, so they have tested the 757 in the air over Ras Al Khaimah. Another of the managers has left. Or was it two So now what.......

I believe launch of scheduled service was set to this month. Did they, or do they make it? Or will there be another Gulf News article quoting RAK Airways saying the launch will be in third quarter 2007

And why is it that this airline to be is not able to hire and keep good managers?

Something is not running the way it should be in RAK. I guess we all can agree upon that. To launch a scheduled international service you need professional people throughout the organization. You can look upon it as a zipper. If one or more of the people in the organization do not operate properly, the organization will not bring the result you expect. Numerous Post Holders have come and left. And that includes the position as CEO. If this would have been the zipper on my jacket, it would not have been a warm jacket. So also for RAK. Having said that. There are professional players in RAK Airways. But as we all know, it takes a full professional team to launch an airline.

I wish, for the sake of the employees, that RAK Airways would be able to take to the sky.

Question is why the people on top let it run like this.

I do not understand why RAK Airways started with VP's level positions.
Airline with small fleet such as 1-2 aircrafts requires 1 GM and rest managers to manage a team.

Old american trick, call everyone VP, make them think they are important, makes clients think the company must be big to have a VP in charge of latrines.

Those VP's still in RaK, must be wondering just how longe before the plug is pulled.

The aircraft is still parked up, and covered in dust, with what looks like a hydraulic leak from the rudder assembly.

A mate of mine was head hunted by RAK, has been down here twice. The first time he was offered CP position, was not interested after seeing this mickey mouse operation. Seems they are hiring trainers on the cheap, i wish all you lot, that have been hired good luck. Them Indians are now in charge...
The 757 is parked up with a shagged thrust reverser, plus other things by the sounds of it.
