Sure. Strikers had their rosters "wiped" after going on strike - ie the trips they did have were replaced with "XXXX" on their rosters. Since then, "XXXX" has become a badge of honour for strikers, and they have made t-shirts, luggage tags etc up, with "XXXX" on them, so that they can identify fellow idiots.

Dave - no question of tampering at all. All word of mouth so take it however you see fit, but thought it was worth passing on as interesting how others were seeing the xxxx tags.

I think trying to claim the moral high ground is very rich considering all of the antics BASSA have pulled over the last few months. Distastful chants from the top of buses about loaders to start with.

Dave3,

Putting your moral outrage to one side for a moment, do you consider the actions of BASSA to have been professional? So professional that DH ended up at the LHR nick?!

Correct. Anyone who went on strike ended up with lots of "XXXX"s on their roster, so now, wearing anything with XXXX on it identifies you as a striker to your comrades in futility, but is also used as an intimidatory tactic towards non-strikers.

Can you add anything substantial to the debate or just one liners. Anything at all.

You seem to have enough information there Ladies and Gentlemen to approach the company and tell them what is happening to crew bags

Ok Dave

We'll all go to our bosses tomorrow and tell them that we have heard from a bloke down the pub, who heard from from a colleague, who heard from a friend that possibly, definitely, maybe someone has damaged a crew members bag.

All this from a RUMOUR network.

First thing tomorrow, I promise.

dave3,

Your cries of "this is shocking" are about as effective as those "you should all be ashamed" noises that you made a couple of weeks back, and that got you told off by the moderators! Get over yourself, you are not a big cheese here - contribute in some meaningful, adult way or go away. Nobody forces you to be here.

Sorry, I'm new to this forum but I don't see how a few crosses on someone's bag intimidates anyone. I haven't got any on mine but don't feel intimidated or even vaguely interested when I see them. I don't feel intimidated by people wearing Manchester United team shirts either. Would someone enlighten me please?

The actions of BASSA here have not only allowed BA to bring about NF - which could have been avoided and at one stage of the whole sorry saga of this dispute was not part of the equation,
As I understand the law, strike action cannot be taken against ideas or proposals just actual changes. Unite couldn't have balloted on the New Fleet Issue last year without having the said ballot challenged and ruled illegal in Court. This, I believe is their reason for focusing on the Imposition issue in the Ballot but discussing the NF in the discussions.

The issue has always been that BA has needed to cut crew costs, not just on a temporary basis, but also long term, in order to expand and safeguard everyone's jobs. Witness new leisure routes being announced all the time out of the relatively low cost LGW and routes to EZE and HND out of LHR that will probably be flown by New Fleet. These routes wouldn't be viable under the old pay and conditions.
You are right that BASSA couldn't have ballotted on New Fleet, although they possibly could now, but they weren't prepared to negotiate permanent cost savings.
A new regime of allowances and box payments, moving to an hourly rate last year would quite possibly have given new routes to legacy crew and safeguarded their futures, although the more senior may have taken a large hit. Instead we have the prospect of these crew being allowed to wither away.

If these bags are being damaged, it is being done by your fellow Unite union members. Reporting them to the company is hardly likely to advance your cause.
