The turkeys have voted for Christmas!

I wonder if the company will be here for the one in 2010.

12 day strike?!?!?

Well everyone, including the BASSA reps will get to stand on the picket line then...... Might be lonely out there watching all of the BA flights take off overhead, but you've sent your message!!

Good bye BA! My four annual return flights LHR/JNB/LHR will now be on Emirates. Unfortunately my last BA flight is scheduled for end Jan and has already been paid for. 30 years in airlines and when I am no longer an ID90 I can choose! Pity. You were the BEST. RIP

Henkybaby

Quote:me:
Presumably one of the first rules of the new union will be that none of the previous representatives will be allowed to stand for office?

Henkybaby: So the first thing your new union would do is do away with the basic principles of democracy?

Just kidding.
Fair enough! Maybe didn't think that through!.....although, do you agree that, even in the most democratic of utopian democracies, the right to elect and be elected should categorically be DENIED to certain groups of individuals, let's say......children, the criminally insane, the insanely criminal........ errrrrrr, this bunch of BASSA reps then?!?!

Would you let Hitler's government run for a second term?!

p.s. Thanks for your continued support of BA, I only hope that there aren't too many others who (understandably) are voting with their feet as we speak......The 'yes' vote matters not a jot, it is what unfolds from here on in that'll be interesting.....and I don't think there's ANY chance that they'll announce a Christmas strike, not in the face of so much negative public opinion, surely even BASSA wouldn't be THAT stupi....oh hold on a minute....

edit: DOH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Exactly Crash and Burn. I remember a crew briefing session a few weeks ago as rumours of this were spreading when 3 out of 4 (I was the 4th and I'm not striking anyway) said they weren't voting 'Yes' to sanction a 12 day walkout!

It looks like there will be a strike over Christmas, this is sad that the cabin staff can ruin the Christmas holiday plans for million of customers.

The impositions BA imposed are very minor but the strike action is major and will hurt BA far more than it does for the cabin staff working with just one cabin member off an aircraft.

Let us hope Mr Walsh can stop it, if he cannot I dread to think what will happen if these people can cause BA to grind to a halt for 12 days over a Christmas period.

I was surprised to hear on the news that BA have the best cabin crew in the business which is why they pay them well over the odds for what they do on board- does everyone else agree with that?

Im pretty heartbroken by this announcement, will BA refund my 4 CW tickets LHR-YYC now or do I have to wait until xmas eve to find out ( which is when me, my wife and 2 small children will be stranded in heathrow) merry xmas too all the yes voters...

This is what I get for not being faithfull to Star Alliance, one time I screw around on them and look what happens. If anybody can give me any advice on this matter I would greatly apreciate it. ( sorry for being a little off topic and out of place)

Ooh dear,
January's payslips won't be very big then!! Good luck with the credit card bills.
No sympathy at all from here I'm afraid.
I only have sympathy for the poor people who won't be going anywhere on this not so festive season, through no fault of their own.
(by the way, I am definitely NOT Malone from BASSA!!)

....So 9514/14000 = 67.9%

hardly anything to crow about and certainly not high enough to warrant the strike announcement IMHO

Do you think any of the general public will now give a jot about those that strike losing their jobs over Christmas period?

No, me neither. They just haven't thought it through have they.

Shame on you, BASSA/UNITE, Shame on you.

To all the pax who will be affect by this, I say sorry; but that is hardly any compensation for the mess that the unions have caused.

To all the BASSA/UNITE members who are pleased with themselves over this result, THINK LONG AND HARD before you do something you may regret.

Shame on you.

I'm pretty certain BA will make the necessary arrangements to offer you a refund or alternative travel.

They are not in this fight to lose.

Message received and understood. I'll be booking mine and my family's flights with someone else. Feel free to divide up the loss in earnings between those left with a job!

Expect Ryanair to be busy getting out the BYE BYE BA de-cals....
Absolutely unbelievable. The phrase ' Be careful what you wish for ' was never so apt.

I'm watching the press conference & trying not to throw something through the screen. The blatant lies being told are disgusting. How on earth the CC can be so blind as to follow these dinosaurs is totally beyond me?

Yes, my wife & I are supposed to be J class LHR-CPT 23 Dec. I should have booked Virgin. The Executive Club phone # is permanently engaged, I guess they've disconnected the lines.

As a BA employee in a different department and a member of the Unite union I am disgusted at the result by my short-sighted collegues.

Regardless of whoever does and does not turn up for work next week the situation is still damaging.

Unite what are you playing at? This action affects all of your members across the airline, do I not have have a mortgage and lifestyle to pay for? oh hang on I based my mortgage and lifestyle on my basic salary not my variable!

Good luck with your new contracts, you still had the chance to negotiate, not now, idiots!
