March 2012 FI, Cba. Argentina

Hi everyone! I've been reading these posts for a while now and it's amazing how it helps to read about everyone's different experiences.
I've been applying to cabin crew position since 2010, I've tried 3 times now. First time I went all the way through to the FI and 1 week before the 6 weeks waiting period ended I got the rejection e-mail. Second time I made it only to second round of AD and this third time got to FI again and I've been waiting for an answer for almost 3 months now.
My FI was in Cordoba, Arg. on March 6th, we were about 12 or 13 people who made to FI and 2 have already been rejected (from what I know). The rest of us still waiting for some kind of answer.

I've written to Dubai but got no answer at all and my status has been AIP for almost 2 months now. What confuses me a great deal is the fact that if they do not have open slots available why they keep organizing OD's and AD's around the world and recruiting people??

I think that they should give us some sort of answer, whether "you keep waiting", "you've been rejected", "we dont know", anything, but we deserve some sort of answer after so long. Anyways just wanted to share my experience with you guys, which, from what I've read is not much different from some of yours.

Congratulations to the ones who got their GC and the best of lucks for the ones still waiting. Hope to hear from you guys soon and know you got it and you're on your way to Dubai!
Hugs to all!

Does anyone know of someone getting a job at Emirates after failing a FI ?

Does anyone know of someone getting a job at Emirates after failing a FI ?
6 months ago I applied at Emirates and made it to my Final Interview , 5 weeks after the interview I got the rejection mail I was really devastated .

Now I still can't forgot my dream to work for Emirates . In 6 months I was planning to apply again ( it's still wait 1 year , no ?) But I was just wondering if failing an FI will taint you forever ?

Any thoughts appreciated

All the best to all Emirates wannabe's , Fafi

hello guys

hi, hope you are all doing great and thank you all for the helpful post...
I am a QR crew and wish to attend for an EK open day in or after july.
I've heard about the restriction between EK and QR crew, but some are saying not anymore. I'm kind of confused but I want to give it a try and see for myself.
If you've heard anything please do let me know.
Thanks a lot and have a great week ahead

Fafi

Hey Fafi, yes definitely! I know so many people who have passed the FI after being unseccessful (some more than once). Plenty of crew in Dubai had to apply more than once - my sister said it's quite common (she's crew at the moment). So go for it! You made it as far as FI already, that means you have most of what they're looking for and they see plenty of potential in you. Good luck!

Yes, TONNES of crew have had to go through the interview process multiple times before they were hired, so no worries. Persistence, and try to figure out what you could have done better.

It's frustrating to wait for them to come to your country, or wait to see if you've been hired after your FI, but sometimes there is a delay based on how many of your nationality is already in the company. For example, there are A LOT of Kenyans in Emirates, and honestly that's probably why they haven't gone to recruit in Kenya for a while. It's also based on what languages they need to hire based on their new destinations. For a while there, they were going crazy on Spanish and Portuguese speakers, and they're ALWAYS looking for more Arabic speakers.

Hang in there: They didn't get a bonus this year, so I'm going to guess that thousands of crew are quitting as I type - which means they're going to need as many recruits as they can get their hands on. If you haven't heard from them in a while, they might just be busy with all the paperwork that comes with quitting.

Hey I'm just wondering if natural red hair would be an advantage or disadvantage? Here in Australia people with red hair get teased so I dye it a natural looking brown. BUT if having my natural red hair would be considered I dunno more diverse or something maybe I'll leave it natural. Does anyone know of any red headed cabin crew working for emitates? My hair isn't carrot orange, just a browny red.

I would worry more about having a good CV than having browny red hair or just brown.
If you do have a good CV, then go with whatever colour makes you more confident! Good luck!!

Haha thanks ;-) I guess it doesn't matter if it looks natural

I have just got a job with another airline so I'll wait 6 or so months before I apply.

Tattoos

Does anyone know if tattoos on the forearm are okay for males. I know males wear long sleeve shirts but what if the tattoo can be seen through the top? Is the material thick enough that it's not slightly see-through?

Forearm = No go. Sorry mate.

You can see it through the shirt.

Tattoos that are fully covered by a t-shirt are okay (all males CC have to wear a white t-shirt under the uniform shirt).

I know a guy who's been cabin crew in EK for almost a year now, and he has a tattoo in his forearm. I'm not saying they're going to accept you if you have it, but the possibility exists... This guy had to wear a cardigan during training just to cover the tattoo (they give you red polo tshirts for training).
So: the RULE is that a tattoo in your forearm is a NO GO.
But reality is that if they really want you, they can make exceptions. And another thing I wanted to point out is that this is for MALES only, as their uniform is a long sleeved shirt and jacket.
For girls of course this is a NO GO 120%.
